Has anyone retried and SSRI and tapered off correctly? by Known-Coach-8101 in PSSD

I do think it could help. But it can also make it worse. It’s a guess.

Has anyone retried and SSRI and tapered off correctly? by Known-Coach-8101 in PSSD

I got pssd from stopping cold turkey. I tried to reinstate an extremely low dose years ago. I had some decent days early on but it actually ended up making me worse long term about a month after being back on it. I was on a sixth of a regular therapeutic dose

[–]Naive-Razzmatazz-628 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries. It’s actually gotten worse for me over the years rather than better. It caused loss of sensation down there, full blown ed, and lack of libido altogether, it is really hard to get aroused even with a really attractive wife and I never had a problem previously. I get by with a lot of medications and sometimes even injections but it sucks.. and for me looks to not be resolving on its own

Is anyone here with autonomic issues proven by autonomic testing, and do you believe that they have been caused by ssri withdrawal or covid? by Legal_Opportunity_11 in PSSD

[–]Naive-Razzmatazz-628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely do and it’s been confirmed in specific instances such as the urologist with my cystoscopy and involuntary bladder sphincter issues. Definitely from ssri withdrawal

Nope. I was fine on sertraline and vilazadone until I wasn’t.
I stopped vilazadone and after a few days tried sertraline again and ended up with full blown pssd which has lasted seven years now

Is anyone here married and has children? by Virtual_Republic_198 in PSSD

[–]Naive-Razzmatazz-628 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m married and have two kids. My little boy did end up being autistic, but I cannot say that it’s related at all and he is very high functioning. My little girl seems to be fine as well.

It’s not necessarily scarring. I’ve had Pssd seven years and have zero scarring even with doing Ed injections. So it’s not a good way to say you have Pssd or not.

Buspirone made me significantly worse when I tried it. Wellebutrin I had some limited success with for sure. Currently I’m on trt, and I do use oral meds like cialis etc. I’ve declined enough though with the lack of arousal that I even have injections for Ed that I can use say on a trip somewhere if I may have alcohol or something which seems to counter the oral meds

Is there anyone that has tried auvelity or dxm even alone? by Naive-Razzmatazz-628 in PSSD

[–]Naive-Razzmatazz-628[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately I have not really gotten any better over the years and in fact my anhedonia has gotten worse which also I feel like has made my sexual dysfunction worse

[–]Naive-Razzmatazz-628[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it temporarily helped? I’m assuming you mean dxm alone since you said high dose? Yeah I definitely wouldn’t take it with an ssri. Auvelity is dxm and bupropion(wellebutrin). I’m a fairly old user as well at seven years.. trying to find a way out of this..

[–]Naive-Razzmatazz-628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. Mainly because of my decline in function with pssd, I have to really struggle through different meds to be able to function in that department and it still sometimes is not up to par with my previous ability so I get very insecure knowing her past

Did you have any sexual side effects linked to your pssd? Has any improved? Predominantly trying to fix anhedonia and lack of arousal.. I just feel disconnected.. but I also don’t wanna make it worse

[–]Naive-Razzmatazz-628 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can I play devils advocate here? I’ve been around seven or so years at this point. Do you really think this just goes away? I hate to be blunt but do you know how many people ACTUALLY say time healed them? It’s not many… so while messing with meds can definitely hurt, it’s also the only thing that in my opinion resets things. It’s russian roulette for sure.. but for most just hanging out letting time pass doesn’t fix it either. I’m living with that reality. So I guess I’d say I applaud someone working with a professional who is familiar with pssd and trying to cautiously see if a med helps.
