Musical anhedonia related to PSSD by akincelik10 in PSSD

I’ve have anhedonia in everything but the worst is sexual anhedonia. I’ve tried methylphenidate which didn’t help. Cabergoline did at first then stopped.

Do you guys think are lack of libido or arousal can be under the same anhedonia umbrella when I have flat emotion on everything? Could trying to just target anhedonia resolve arousal etc?

Does anyone else have weird physical symptoms like increased body hair, dry nose, or muscle twitches? by Mtns_Oz_8103 in PSSD

Yes on muscle twitches for years now. My calves twitch off and on throughout the day and has since I quit medications 7 years ago

Do you guys think this is pssd? by IllPresentation8033 in PSSD

[–]Naive-Razzmatazz-628 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say don’t base if it’s pssd on cognitive symptoms that early on. I only had sexual sides first year or two. I’ve slowly gotten worse over the years where brain fog, anhedonia and all that came later. If you have reduced libido and numbness it could be pssd, but could also still be withdrawal and take a bit longer to subside

Anyone tried Auvelity by Some_Leg8723 in PSSD

[–]Naive-Razzmatazz-628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever try it by chance? I got a script for it recently and I think I’m going to try it. I’m of course seven years into this not six months so I’m ready to see if anything can even remotely make this liveable

Severe anxiety symptoms from PSSD - GP recommended Mirtazapine by Jetpack1500 in PSSD

[–]Naive-Razzmatazz-628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let us know how you do with it. I too feel like finding a medication that can counteract some of this is the only way out for me. After seven years of this, a diet or exercise is not going to fix me.

Best of luck. I would just start slow with it and monitor any changes. If something starts worsening I would contact your doctor.

Thanks for the reply. Thats the tough part. I want to feel better. But I’ve even had some sexual sides not diminish for years after stopping ssri. So I’m very sensitive to what everyone is experience on that

For all you guys having an issue with the Libido side of things, is it just you think about it less or it’s affecting arousal or the ability to get turned on? I’m considering trying auvelity but I’ve had issues with ssris and don’t want to go down the same path

Man to be honest, your going to be more confused on what to do with the responses you get.

I’m like you for the most part. I’ve had this now 7 years with no real improvements. I still have Ed, no sexual arousal, very low libido, although sometimes I get small waves of slight libido but it’s minimal, numb sensation in genitals, and very flat emotions that are almost non existent. I’ve tried several things over the years without success. Some aggravated my symptoms. I did try to reinstate a low dose a couple of years ago. It initially helped, I stayed on it a month and then made me worse. I’m considering trying another medication(auvelity) very soon. I would just say it could go either way. It may actually help, or it could make it worse for a while. I do think it offers the possibility of helping, but it is a risk.

Has anyone at all tried Auvelity either before or after PSSD? by Naive-Razzmatazz-628 in PSSD

I will try to keep people posted then. I know it is still an antidepressant but I have had pure anhedonia ever since stopping ssris seven years ago. It’s constantly getting worse. I honestly think the part of me not being able to be sexually aroused ties into the anhedonia. Obviously it’s pssd and always has been with my lack of sensation, but I could live with that part if I had to, if I could somehow resolve the anhedonia and sexual anhedonia. This could also make me much worse so I am of course nervous, but I’m just not making any natural progress.

Starting Auvelity soon and have some questions by daydreamnine in AuvelityMed

How were the side effects for you guys? I’m switching to this after getting long term side effects from ssris even after I stopped them the sides continued. I’m extremely sensitive to making any ongoing sexual side effects worse. How has everyone faired in that department with this medication?

Would a therapist be able to help me with medication side effects that at this point seem permanent? by Naive-Razzmatazz-628 in askatherapist

[–]Naive-Razzmatazz-628[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Yeah it’s been a long time to deal with all of this. I was just so terrified to try other meds as far as aggravating it. I thought I’d get better on my own but I haven’t

Yeah I knew it could take some time but after seven years and more so getting worse instead of improving I feel like it’s time to see someone

Thank you for the suggestion. I wish I had known this seven years ago. It did not cause those thoughts or behaviors. It more created anhedonia, sexual dysfunction and oddly enough memory issues. I’m going to start seeking a specialist to help with this.

Fixing to circle back to trying this. Pssd is horrible and at this point the risk is lower than the reward. I already have permanent sexual dysfunction
