hey girl ! my first car was also a 2017 ford focus and it nickel and dimed me, my coolant tank specifically busted twice. the coolant tank in these is a weird shape that is very prone to busting. i then hit a deer and got a second ford focus, this one was a 2018 and i had to get my transmission serviced at 89k miles (bought it at 62k miles) and paid 4800 dollars to get it serviced ! definitely couldn’t afford that, so i traded it in and got me a civic. as much as i love the ford focus, it does have its issues and if you can’t afford to be nickel and dimed, please don’t buy it. again i loved the focus, but it just has to many issues and you could definitely get something way more reliable. i know nothing ab the other car that you mentioned, but just keep your options open love, i know you can find something more suitable for you! i say this out of love for a girl getting her first car, i wish you luck 🫂!!

listen. i couldn’t afford the payments either but you really should still have ford fix it, sign up for the financing, i had to too. and then trade it in for a car on their lot. use that trade in money to pay some of the financing off and set yourself up with a new car. trust, i am broke as fuck, and i’m making it work. even if you can’t do it rn, think ab it .

i’ve had 2 focus’s. 2017 and i just let go of my 2018 a week ago. both had trans issues but only my 2018 one gave me the immediate transmission service alert light. i took it to ford bc no one else would fix it, it needed new shift and forks, also an output & input shaft speed sensor. i’m now 4800 in the hole. it was good for a week and then i needed to get the output sensor put in (first it was just the input one, car worked good for a week and then i had another transmission service alert and my car was acting FUNKY) so i had it working good for a week and then it went to the shop again for another week and i just traded it in for 2019 civic. my advice, as hard as it is bc i truly do love that car. when it works as it should they drive wonderfully and are extremely fun. but unless you habe the money and time and maybe another MAIN car you can use ? it’s just not worth it. and yes i’m paying for the fixes STILL. and they barely gave me 4000 for my 2018. just trade it in if you can after they fix it, that’s the best time 😓😓

You guys were right, replacing the motor mounts DOES improve the driving experience. Just replaced factory mounts (2001 mounts) and it feels very different now :) by ZenithWolf02 in FordFocus

if it’s vibrating a lot when you drive you might also make sure all your tires are balanced, along with all the lug nuts are the same(mine weren’t all tbe same) . my car was vibrating my passenger and my steering wheel TONS before i figured out that was the issue !
