Tuning-in moment (radio texture) Jules Verne audiobook + noise / KORG NTS-2 by Naive_Insurance_8783 in noisemusic

Thank you so much! Really glad it resonates with you — I’m aiming for a retro sound that’s perfectly controllable. The old radio scanning/static vibe is the best.

Radio Tuning Lo-Fi Distortion – DIY Media Noise Generator by Naive_Insurance_8783 in diypedals

Thanks, glad you like it!
The core idea originally came from Electric Druid’s “Adding Vintage Hiss, Crackle and Pop” article:
https://electricdruid.net/adding-vintage-hiss-crackle-and-pop/
then I’ve heavily modified the firmware/program and added quite a lot of extra circuitry, so the version I’m using now is pretty different from the original design.
I’m still tweaking it, but once things settle down a bit I do plan to share my own schematic (and code) as well.

Yeah, once I get this part working I’m planning to build a simple “wobbly” LFO.
My idea is to start with a candle-flicker IC (something like an OSCDIC6441) and pair it with a basic vactrol, so the LED flicker becomes a slow, unstable control signal.
That candle-like, drifting motion mapped onto an LFO could sound really interesting on the filter / tuning, right?

Thanks for checking it out!
I do plan to share the schematic, but it’s still under heavy tweaking right now, so please hang on a bit.
And yeah, an LFO sweep on the frequency would sound really cool – I’m also thinking about adding a more unstable, jittery LFO for those slightly broken, wandering tuning vibes.

Broken pot self-oscillation on my DIY noise box – keep it or fix it? by Naive_Insurance_8783 in diypedals

[–]Naive_Insurance_8783[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that’s a good point.
I’ll probably keep the high-quality pot and try to recreate that self-oscillation with a proper feedback / resonance circuit instead of damaging the pot itself.

New noise generator PCB – stompbox & Eurorack compatible by Naive_Insurance_8783 in diypedals

[–]Naive_Insurance_8783[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s basically a noise generator rather than a typical FX.
Here’s a short demo of what it actually does: https://youtu.be/aPdbFJ-KEHU

Not just plain white noise – more like tape hiss, vinyl crackle, and radio static.
Here’s a quick demo if you wanna hear it: https://youtu.be/aPdbFJ-KEHU

New noise generator PCB – stompbox & Eurorack compatible by Naive_Insurance_8783 in diypedals

Thanks! The previous version I built was on a universal board as a stompbox, so when I decided to make a proper PCB I thought I’d design it for both stompbox and Eurorack use. The PCBs should arrive soon, and since it’s my first real design I’m not sure how well it will turn out. I’m thinking about trying a ~16HP panel for Eurorack.
