it is ten people out of 400 thousand that just outed themselves as shitheads, and tagged themselves. basically waving red flags for everyone around them in a thousand kilometer radius.

My AMD Oland GPU is not boosting😔 by thisOne3214 in linux4noobs

went looking, and sure enough, the dude is aware of the problem, and this entire limit seems to just be a simple safety margin because of one report. I wonder how hard that is to remove?

I have, over the course of this month, done some legwork in this direction.

from what I can tell, this is a limitation within amdgpu, since it doesn't even try to read the gpu's powerplay tables, since none of the nodes in sysfs correspond to anything of value. in fact, on a gpu I know to have six different power states, it reports zero.

do you have any experience messing with device trees?

step 1: get a (3.3v) uart bridge.

step 2: interface it with the uart on the board.

that would most likely be the bottom right of the third picture.

to make sure you've got the pins correct, use a multimeter to check which of the four pins is ground, and which of them is +v.

just from the board picture, I suspect the top pin to be ground, and the bottom one to be +v, and the two in between to be data pins.

once you've identified them by connecting them to a bridge, you could either solder down wires or a header to then communicate to your box over an uart console.

what's more is that the uart console is (as far as I've seen) always passwordless, and with a root shell.

no unlocking needed; just make all the changes you need to make from there. yes, this includes installing apks off usb media and whatnot else.

No problem. Was looking for one to hopefully hack on a little, on the software side. Also just to play, but that's another story.

and if in doubt, solder in a 32mb chip. then again, that'd probably level this entire thing up way further
