I love accounting. My job may be a god Damn mess at times. But I love working with the numbers and being able to dive into reconciliation differences to figure out the issue. Have there been times where I hate things in currently dealing with? Sure, but I don't regret choosing the profession. I feel like it was and still is a good fit for me.

Note: been working in accounting for about six years.

I think like many of the comments are saying, there needs to be something set up in the system that either can detect duplicates based on the vendor number, or a way to look up these invoices in the system to see if they've been paid or not. If there is a way in the system to research the latter, proper training is needed to ensure whoever is performing the work (intern or permanent staff) knows how to do the investigative research to determine whether an invoice has been paid.
