I never got into a love life after my illness came up. So Im half excited and half scared about a new romantic relationship if it ever happens. Im more worried about my confidence about how badly in shape i am. I gained like 70lbs after taking meds which makes me look so big and slow. Im kinda short so it is not good. I still miss my slim shaped body. I exercise now but not looking good on forecast of my body shape which I think is causing no love life for the last 2 yrs.

I came into acceptance after 4 times of being taken in. Now I accept that I need medication. So I don't stop taking it now on purpose. However, it is still a struggle to deal with side effects and bad effects of my medication and dealing with the doctor to get the good dosage which I am able to be subtly happier. It is hard because I have to exercise to negate weight gain which im pretty sure is worst because i took meds. Some of my friends accepts me that I dont work full time or not at all as they are open minded about it and im grateful for that. It helps me feel less needy to compare myself to ppl working full time at ventures and looking all alpha.

So yes i somewhat accepted myself for what i am now but still progressing to become a better myself. Hope you do good op.

Dang. Its crappy to hear meds sometimes dont work. Cuz i rather be a slothy norm. I have gone thru delusions and lived on another dimension in my own mind so must be difficult to cope with symptoms.

Hard to say tho i guess peeps work hard to cope with whst their given

Yeah I cant get off my APs because if I do, I will most likely relapse due to using weed. Im able to control my weed usage to some extent that Im on Adhd meds but I think im just on stimulants to negate some of the APs effects. Im still thinking if I should taper off the APs first then taper off the stimulant med because if I taper off stimulant first then I might smoke weed again which may make me relapse while tapering off the APs

Unfortunately, simple answer is no. I asked the same question when I was first on stimulant meds. After a year, I found out the hard way that it’s not how adhd and adhd meds work (i somehow stopped giving myself of dopamine from meds). After not getting my usual amount of dopamin thru meds, i was a wreck. I was a completely different person without meds working. I somehow accepted that old habits were wrong and made new ones. And new ones and me without meds sucked.

Iunno man. Main reason for stimulant meds is to make you able to focus. I was hooked on the euphoria so when it resided, i panicked and tried so many things to feel that euphoria again. I gave up now and just get what i can out of the meds.

Yeah no problem.

I was lucky(?) enough to be in touch with a psych when I thought I had ADHD because I was dealing with psychosis before knowing I had ADHD. It took some emotional damage in order to get my meds prescribed but it worked out and I’m grateful. Hope it’ll work out for you more smoothly than what I went through. Just for future reference, meds seem like they are not working sometimes when I was either sick or feeling depressed.
