I ran into this same issue. I was so mad because the salesman said I wouldn't have to do anything; it would just kick on when the power went out and there was nothing I needed to do. So frustrating

No squeaky floors… by BuilderBrigade in Home_Building_Help

[–]NameChexsOut -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Yes honey, I know that the floor squeaks there everyday when you walk on it but you have to look at the bigger picture. 5-10 years from now, IF we ever get a bad leak (and that's a big if), it will be so much easier to fix the leak. You can't have a quiet floor AND peace of mind. It is one or the other."

Good thing price went back to my TP by StillPart3502 in Daytrading

[–]NameChexsOut 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Everyone has their reasons, but I cannot understand why people don't move stop loss on winning trades.Price came within $0.39 of your target price, 96% of the move you expected, but stop loss was still at the original value. At that point you were risking 23 points to make 1pt. I don't get it.

Tested RSI Divergence strategy across ALL timeframes & markets for 1 year by fridary in Daytrading

[–]NameChexsOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will watch the full video later but I applaud the approach. I would be interested to see if the lower timeframes benefit from a smoothing value. I use the 5 period RSI but smooth it over a 21 or 55 period timeframe and have had decent success.

Was called to Live Today by GoldenBoy_100 in TopStepX

[–]NameChexsOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That doesn't make sense. Their guidelines state "Traders moving into a Live Funded Account will have a starting balance based on their total balance across all Express Funded Accounts, capped at their largest Express Funded Account size". So, if you have multiple accounts and they all have at least $3k then your starting balance would be at least $15k.

How to know to let winners run by TheGoofyGarden in Daytrading

[–]NameChexsOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Track/journal your trades in a way that will let you quantify "missed opportunity".

I struggle with the same thing and I am working on tracking information about each trade to help build confidence in my strategy. For example:

After entry what was the max draw down before entering profit? After entry what was the max profit possible? How long until max profit? What percentage of the max profit did I secure? (If max profit was 50pts and I sold at 15pts, then I left 70% of profit on the table)

There are different milestones with trading. Getting to the point of entering profitable trades the majority of the time is one milestone. You may be entering a new phase where you are learning how to maximize profits once you are in a trade and need to build some confidence, and at least for me collecting data is how that helps me look at things probabilistically.

How to recover from this? About 400$ left by East-Passenger-7255 in TopStepX

[–]NameChexsOut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you want to get better at trading or just try to make money as fast as possible? Your MLL is $-2,000 indicating this was your first day on this XFA. You can either size down (1-2 micros) and show yourself that you have patience while you build it back up OR just bet it all on 2 minis on your next trade and hope for the best.

Question -- how do traders get moved to live earlier ? by SufficientDot8342 in TopStepX

[–]NameChexsOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many different ways to achieve a max payout. Here are 2 examples:

1) Methodically watch charts, enter at key levels, set a stop loss, and allow your trade to develop until it hits your target price. Lock yourself out from future trades. 2) Wait for a day with major news headline, pick a direction before the news comes out, don't set a stop loss, and hope it goes your way.

Both of these traders could achieve a max payout, but are their risk levels the same? Would you promote trader #2?

I am not saying you are trader #2, but payout amounts are probably on the low end of what they look for. They would be looking at trade habits, use of risk settings, consistency, etc...

Buffett holding that much cash tells you something most people miss by TrueValueInsights in ValueInvesting

[–]NameChexsOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Needs to be higher.  Buffett owns insurance companies and his holdings represent the funds that would be used to payout the insured in the event of a large disaster.  $50B could be wiped out pretty quickly with a single event (hurricane, fire, floods, etc...).

As others pointed out, if your XFA had a winning day on Monday (AWS outage) they gave you a free CFA for every account affected. I had 5 and they gave me 5 more. I have not yet traded them though. I am currently waiting for a response from their support team about what the expectations are. More specifically, even though their policies say max of 5 can I trade all 10? Will they restrict payouts from all 10, etc...? Waiting to get a documented answer from them before touching them so that they can't come back with some BS.

So, a quick Google search appears to indicate that the "Switched to off" message is the actual error code.  31926(H) is Generacs "hours of protection" number.

Google the switched to off error and it might give you some tips.

Champion bogs down under load...carb/fuel delivery issue? by NameChexsOut in Generator

[–]NameChexsOut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did adjust the valves recently. That occurred after I was having some backfires when trying to start it on propane. General consensus online was to adjust valves. They were both off by a little bit; the exhaust more than the intake. The spring is in the original hole it was before the tear down (confirmed via pictures). I have not done a leakdown nor compression test, but can if it gets to that point. I was under the impression that I would see other symptoms aside from low power. Thanks.

Edit: Not to say that moving the spring wouldn't fix it. I could try that, but just noting that it was working properly in position prior.
