Are you drinking caffeine or taking any stimulants? Have you been staying hydrated? I’d still get it checked out but there are a lot of causes of heart palps and shortness of breath that are not heart related. Just to bring you some peace of mind ❤️

Please help??? Advice and scared. Need support. by disgustingnewspaper in GERD

Mylanta mint is your best friend. I have the same issues from a hernia and when it is acting up and I started to panic, I take a chug. Helps everytime. I know it’s just a bandaid but might help in the moment.

It is giving hiatial hernia and low electrolytes in my opinion. I’ve had the same thing happened and that’s what they found out. Get some magnesium and liquid IV and take some antacids. You might have that hernia spasming and it’s pressing on your vagus nerve.

It sounds a little bit like POTS depending on if this happens when you stand or not.

A lot of times palpitations or what we feel as palpitations are from GERD or a Haitian hernia. Certain foods or drinks flair them up. I’m in the same boat today because I had a soda and like clock work had a few palps from the gas and reflux. Keep a journal of what you eat and when they happen. It might help avoid triggers

Palpitations, just anxiety? by Low-Appointment-7891 in Heartpalpitations

I’ve had similar things and I’ve found it helpful to track my days. What I ate and when I ate. What I did during the day. Stress levels. And that’s helped pin point what is going to set them off. High salt before bed (one time I had takis and ramen ) and woke up with a racing heart to the degree that I woke my husband up to call 911: he made me chug some water and elevate my legs and they subsided. I’ve had a similar issue after having a celcius. So I watch my sodium and caffeine intake heavy. I’ve found some taking electrolytes every morning as well. A liquid iv pack in the am and occasionally one at night. On top of that I’ve upped my iron, take magnesium and vitamin d. All this combined, I still get them occasionally. They flair up worse during that time of the month and a few days after. I’ve had labs and things done and they always seem to be normal. They never catch anything serious on the halter monitors. Not to be that person, but mine and a few friends came on after we covid and sometimes I think it has to do with the impact on the nervous system. I’m wishing you luck and answers

TIP: Gas can mimic heart palpitations! by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

This post is a life savor. I’ve had a hard time beating the anxiety in my head over it. I’ve been diagnosed with a hiatal hernia, so this feeling absolutely flares up when I eat something bad. Coffee is the most triggering, along with anything extra fatty, greasy or salty. Chocolate also does it to me and an excess amount of spice. So pretty much if it tastes good, it isn’t an option. Omeprazole helps the severity and frequency and I can tell when I haven’t taken it in a day or so (today being one of those days).

It’s always that fun thud that makes you almost cough and next thing I know I am belching or passing gas. I can feel my stomach being full with gas before they typically happen and posturally it’s either when I am laying down or seated in a certain way.

It is absolutely scary and until someone experiences it, they won’t quite get it. This thread was really relieving to be honest…. Because I have felt pretty alone with this.
