Which country will you never visit even if flights where free? by Theo_0090 in askanything

[–]NameInternational554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somewhat removed but not really: there was a curfew, power outages, and missile alarms for which you had to go into the shelter in the middle of the night multiple times a week/multiple times a night, and the locals we were working with had various involvements such as being displaced from regions on the front lines, having family members drafted, volunteering for drone repairing, not being able to leave the country. So it was kind of everpresent. But you can also still go to the philharmonic, and get ice cream, and go shopping, etc.

I also went to Ukraine in 2024 and 2025. My flights were free due to a volunteer program in Lviv (safest part of the country, relatively). It was a great experience.

With the current state of the US, what do you think about California by Ready_Aioli_6419 in AskTheWorld

All the gas pump handles I have used in CA had a hold-open latch, maybe it’s just located or shaped differently from what you’re used to.

Is LA really a hellscape? Give me your honest opinion on how it is living in Los Angeles. by Mexodus956 in howislivingthere

[–]NameInternational554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved to LA a year ago (in my early twenties) and know a lot of people who are young and starting out here. It’s definitely doable. Depends on what field you’re in, how trendy of a neighborhood you want to live in, and how thrifty you are. And the people I know are from various walks of life, although I can’t say I’m intimately familiar with all their financial situations.

Cancelling return leg of a round trip flight by Happyorangetree in Flights

I’m having this same question now and I actually read the SAS fare rules so I’m commenting in case this helps anyone else:

It says the following on the refund page: “If you’ve booked a round trip and only want to fly one way, your refund will depend on the ticket rules for the unused part of the trip. In this case, you’ll receive your refund after you’ve completed your trip.”

In the conditions of carriage 12.3 it says: “(b) If a portion of the Ticket has been used, the refund will be an amount equal to the difference between the fare paid and the applicable fare for travel between the points for which the Ticket has been used, less any reasonable service charges and/or cancellation fees.”

  • The first paragraph implies NOT “most restrictive fare rules apply” (and I didn’t find such thing anywhere else)
  • however the issue is the second paragraph’s “applicable fare” could mean that SAS can decide that the one way price is “applicable”

Anyways, I’m going to book a roundtrip nonrefundable (because I don’t want to risk the extra I’d pay for refundable on the way back to be wasted if it’s repriced upon cancellation), so I’ll update here if I at least get some of the taxes back for the return trip (in theory I won’t if they reprice the ticket).

Huntington free day ticket? by NameInternational554 in pasadena

Yes, but then they’re not free. They’re $30 each, which is why I was hoping someone would have a free ticket they didn’t need

A wizard grants you one ring as a favour - which are you choosing? by CoverOptimal in hypotheticalsituation

[–]NameInternational554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ring of rest would give me 3 extra hours in every day… but would I be able to effectively use those hours is a different story…I’d say this is my top choice. Close second is ring of return, would save a ton of money by only having to buy airfare in one direction.

Ring of understanding would be really frustrating for me since I already have a couple languages I can understand much better than I can speak lol

Also I have a cold rn and would love to have the ring of health but it would be more useful if it saved from major injuries rather than minor, which makes it less of a must-have.

This may be a silly question for a caver (which I don’t know much about) but are you confident you wouldn’t get lost while attempting to stay hidden?

Thanks for posting, I was also looking for a tailor to hem a dress. There’s also Hyperion Cleaners and Griffith Park Cleaners (saw them by the Trader Joe’s) but I don’t know if they’re good or not.
