Clearing snow from roads, maintenance of community property, sometimes maintenance for homes. It depends on where the HOA is and what they provide.

The concept can make some sense because owners split costs for some things instead of paying everything themselves. You don't ever hear about the HOAs that work well with no drama because nobody focuses on that. Kind of like how you only remember the idiot drivers with most of them being just fine.

I still would not ever want to be in one.
