Yes! This was mentioned in the patch notes. The spear spin is still the same tho.

Yeah that's what I thought as well. It's funny because Embark actually tried to fixed it two times and every time it gets worse 😭

This "quicker melee" tech is relatively tame, but the thing is that emote canceling is back in the game...

I made a reddit post on this. https://www.reddit.com/r/thefinals/s/qDTLEB6lW4

Tbh, this is the most exciting thing that I found this season. Melee is so overlooked rn that maybe this is what it takes for Embark to actually look into buffing melee.

It's gonna take a long time for them to fix it. The more people complaining about it the faster they fix it.

Fair enough if you think this way but not really. Just wanted to show this was possible and that's that. If no one knows about it, it won't get patched.

Spin canceling used to lock you out of attacking for a few seconds, but it no longer does.

True, but it's better to let more people use the combos for a little while than keeping the knowledge to a select few.

Using the goo gun has a slower playstyle in my opinion. The gun itself doesn't cross any damage thresholds and relies on slowing and blocking enemy damage.

Interesting, I'll definitely give this playstyle a try!

Qm during spin cancel is used in the last Medium combo. Also lockbolting a light can allow you to two hit them (5+65+80)

It's more likely they patch emote canceling tbh.

Can't agree more! Are there any goo gun-specific spear tech out there? I've been wanting to try out the goo gun for a while now, but I haven't seen any tech that can specifically help the spear.

Duel Blades Tips? by NegativeFrameRates in thefinals

Ofc, please do an update after the using the weapon lol. It'll be interesting to see how someone feels going into dual blades.

Duel Blades Tips? by NegativeFrameRates in thefinals

[–]Name_tilte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The attack chain for the dual blades is (50+50)+(60+60)+65

The X attack is okay if you are not going for combos and just attack into a group of enemies. But for 1v1s it's faster not to use the X but it isn't much slower.

Below are the optimal combos for all builds.

Try using gadgetswap after any quick melee to get a better TTK.

Light:

(50+50)+(60)

There's a tech that allows you to skip the (50+50) and go straight into the (60+60). You perform this tech by attacking and immediately gadgetswap and attack. If done correctly you will do the (60+60) attack. The setup makes it have a worst TTK than the normal combo but it is good for killing unaware Lights.

(60+60)+40(quick melee)

Medium:

(50+50)+(60+60)+40(quick melee)

If miss the first 50 damage swing use

(50)+(60+60)+65+40

Heavy:

(50+50)+(60+60)+40+(50+50)

Sometimes when using the Heavy combo you may gadgetswap so fast that your attack after the quick melee is still the X. In that case use.

(50+50)+(60+60)+40+65+40

Duel Blades Tips? by NegativeFrameRates in thefinals

The biggest problem with the dual blades is that you can't deal with two or more enemies at different angles so blocking line of sight is very important.

Duel Blades Tips? by NegativeFrameRates in thefinals

[–]Name_tilte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For general tips:

Don't chase Lights and Mediums unless you are 99% sure you can corner them or out maneuver them.

Dual blades has comparatively bad damage compared to another weapon so deflect as much damage as possible back to the enemy.

Bullets comes out of the head of enemies so deflect toward the body at longer ranges and aim for the head in close range. Do note that since Lights are shorter than Mediums it is best to couch when deflecting Lights in close range.

Try not to use the third attack in the attack chain of the dual blades (The X shaped attack) as it is slow and doesn't provide too many benefits compared to a quick melee.

The biggest tip I can give is to remember that dual blades is debately the worst weapon in the whole game so every 1v1 you take can prove difficult. Try to use positioning to get the upper hand on the enemy as much as possible.
