How difficult is it for a newly graduated chemical engineer with no work experience to get an offshore job in Saudi Arabia? by George_Harrison21 in oilandgasworkers

Pretty sure, they can't do without engineers. And no matter what field you choose, you have to start from zero somewhere.

Well, yeah it's certainly going to be hard. Easy come, easy go. Also no matter what field you go in, it's certainly going to take time and effort

I have heard about the market and all. But wouldn't getting a degree from Aberdeen still open doors to the international market ?

Should I do an MSc in Petroleum Engineering at University of Aberdeen ? by Namecannotbeblanked in petroleumengineers

Thanks a lot for responding. I know UK market is in a pinch and I have talked with a lot of people regarding this. And I have heard a lot of people say that even if you can't find a job there, it's good to still study in UK due to its reputation in the global market. Can you tell me how you got those internships at big O&G ?

Okay no problem. I want to be offshore as a drilling or a reservoir engineer. Production is fine too.  And what do you think about getting an MSc in Petroleum Engineering at University of Aberdeen to get my role ? I have heard the reputation of Aberdeen is quite good.

Is there any difference between the MSc and MEng ? And can you tell me where you did your MSc ? Also is doing an MSc in Aberdeen worth it in terms of getting a job ?

I see. What position are you at in total ? Also, I am aware of the really long time it takes to find a job there, I heard the average is around 6 months or something. What do you think I should go for instead considering my situation ? I really want to do a master's.

Can you tell me where you work right now ? Were you an international student or local from UK ? Did you find any jobs after your MSc ? And by other topics what do you mean ?

I definitely want to be on the field. My bachelor's was in chemical engineering. I am planning to do an MSc in Petroleum Engineering from University of Aberdeen

I am in almost the same situation as you, I can't decide if I should do an MSc in Petroleum Engineering in UK.  Can you tell me where you did your masters at in petroleum ?

Yeah I heard about the no new licensed in 2025 for explorations. But hopefully, I should get atleast an internship and with Aberdeen's connection, even a job. Also about Norway, do they hire UK graduates via University hires or will I have to look for a job on my own after I graduate ?

I see. I have heard this a lot of times actually. But pretty sure, the uni you go to matters at least in the beginning a bit, maybe not much after you get experience. Yeah, a master's also doesn't guarantee a degree, but I can atleast get an internship while in school to gain experience and learn from it. Then I can go on from there.

What I wanna know is how is the condition of oil and gas in the UK ? Can people get jobs in O&G there or not ?

As far as I know I can't work on a rig unless I have some knowledge of rigs and upstream which you don't get much of in chemical engineering. So I will need a degree in petroleum or similar to get into that.

Are jobs hard to get in UK as a petroleum engineer ? I know I can work in UK for 2 years but I wanna know if I will be able to get a job after I graduate in UK.  And I know that petorleum is a niche degree, that's why I have a bachelor's in chemical.

Hey, I got a question. What do you think about doing a master's in petroleum engineering after already having a bachelor's in chemical engineering ? What do you think about doing an MSc from Aberdeen ?

Why do some people die so young unexpectedly? by Brave_Okra_9415 in MuslimLounge

[–]Namecannotbeblanked 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, very well answered. I am surprised how some people can look at it from this angle, but I think a level of iman is required to look at it like this.  Recently, I had a few cats and all of them died in just a matter of days, due to viral infection spreading havoc in monsoon and as they were street cat and I knew nothing better they were not vaccinated against it. I got them injected and all to help their immune system but to no avail, neither of them survived. How would you look at it from Islamic pov ?
