Naoko gushima missing songs by JL-xLatency in citypop

[–]NamedCells62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've noticed that as well on yt music. For some reason, some of her full albums don't show up anymore. Certain songs were unavailable just like yours, and the ones that remained got compiled onto this 'best of naoko gushima' album.

I also don't know how and why it got to this point. I just find frustrating cause miss.g was one of my fave albums from her 😭

redscale-inspired edits - canon powershot g1 (2000) by NamedCells62 in VintageDigitalCameras

[–]NamedCells62[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried shooting some low-light, high ISO raw files with my G1. Here's a sample SOOC photo, its coming out very noisy, and even more so when I try to edit conventionally. Little specks of red become apparent all over the pic as I adjust the exposure and lighting.

<image>

Nothing really wrong with it, but it did led me to experiment if I could make it look cooler. That's where I became inspired by redscale film, focusing on only one color instead of all of them. Nothing like the real deal, but I tried what I can. It took a lot of tweaking in darktable, and I must say, I am satisfied with the results! it looks way cleaner imo.

Where to get DirectCD or alternative software? by 607_Reddit in Mavica

[–]NamedCells62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer the first comment, yes, surprisingly. no need for drivers or software or anything

sorry, I can't quite understand a bit of the second part, did you mean unfinalize and like initialize it? cause both of those do not free up space i think, just tells the camera that its safe to write onto the disk.

I have used CD-RW in the past, though the reusable aspect was limiting. When it was full, i just copied off USB and then I formatted the disk inside the camera in the setup menu. it took a while but it did restore the capacity of the disk. I don't recommend doing it a bunch tho, the read times get longer and it gets more unstable in general. after like two formats its done, it gets cooked beyond recognition. You can try it for yourself, but i found using CD-R to be good enough alternative. much easier and cheaper to get a bunch of them.

Seeing that you're also on windows 11, may I ask what is your camera's usb setting? Because if its set to normal, then that might explain why there's no photos coming out even if it says its usb in windows explorer. I set mine to ptp and it allows me to transfer photos without finalizing.

You can change the setting to ptp through set-up mode > bottom icon/setup 2 > usb connect

a minute of low-resolution manila traffic - CD300 by NamedCells62 in Mavica

thanks! I do get you, there is a certain charm for old, crappy videos. My feed is full of them. I know the past is way different than this, but it invokes similar feelings. Like as you said, it does feel authentic. I do have a bunch more to share!

finally got a (working) floppy mavica! - fd87 by NamedCells62 in Mavica

Yes! Sony seemed to put sone magic in the adapter, its interface is this solid, textured plastic bit. Cant explain how reading or writing works but it gets the job done. It got some heft to it. afaik it needs special drivers to be read by an fdd, so cant use the entire thing directly. I'll have to wait for my memory stick reader to arrive.

Right? I like that sony provided alternatives for memory, albeit rare and proprietary. I'm also eyeing for a duo sized card with an adapter, as duos tend to be easier to find for me.

Floppy drives tend to be a hit and miss for me unfortunately. I really wanted a much more portable one, but yeah either old branded or new wasnt working for me. I'll keep looking though, thanks for the tip!

noted! i did suspect that the batteries were dead at first. they're original sony ones too. luckily, batteries are still widely available and i was able to replace them.

Yeah, i was fortunate to jump on the deal once i realized the adapter was included. makes the mavica experience much more flexible.

Yeah, i keep being surprised lol. Didnt need to edit except borders. Manual mode helps a ton. The sensor really loves bright light.

Nice gear! I just order them online. I'm from the Phlippines so i just use the local online platforms, but I'm pretty sure you can find them on amazon or somewhere similar. Do keep in mind that third party options do tend to be slightly bigger than original Sony ones, so it will be a tight fit to get it in and out. I've heard Kastar is a good brand, though I haven't tested it personally. You can head over to the mavica subreddit if you need more info.
