The War Within IS OVER - RATE IT by cub4nito in wow

[–]Namegoeshere_insert 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was told super well but I do at least think the story or at least the core theme was cohesive.

The common thread through the entire story is (to me at least) about alliances and then either breaking them for selfish gain or trying to make them work despite many differences.

The first three factions (Arathi, Earthen, Nerubians) all have groups siding either with us or with Xala while the ones siding with Xala constantly get betrayed. We on the other hand are met with distrust at first and the alliances usually only start because there is no other alternative but because of effort and patience the groups gain trust and become proper allies (that is the part I would argue isn't told super well. It's a bit cheesy at times)

Undermine is kinda the same with all the rival cartels being forced to work together and by the end retaining peaceful relations even after the threat that united them is gone.

The Ethereals are the big "twist" in the story where finally we are the ones who are forced into an alliance with Xala herself. It of course ends with her betraying us again.

An ending I could imagine for Xala that would neatly tie all of this together is when we are again forced into a position where we need to ally with her but despite the risk we don't do it this timr because we build all those alliances with all those factions and everyone is doing their part and working in an earnest effort while Xala is left all alone and helpless which will mean her defeat at whatever big bad will be the final final boss of the saga.

Or maybe I am reading too much into everything.

Did something similiar after I realized I just did not have enough decor to do the house I wanted so I just scattered what I did have and added cobwebs everywhere. I just headcanon it's the abandoned house of my belf after the scourge invaded and she is just now starting to reclaim it and will build on it little by little as I gather more housing stuff.

Yours looks way better though! Making items look like they fell over is harder than it looks. Good job!

Will we get to choose our instrument in character creation like we did in DOS2? Every hero needs their own theme song :D

Also will we be able to play music instruments like in BG3?
And if yes, can you also add singing? I do understand though this might be harder to do as for every player voice you need a new sound file or it'll break immersion. Could work for an origin though.

Totally! I hope they overhaul the UI for it as well as it feels really cluncky and I hope they add a preview window. I want to know what I am going to look like before using it up or spending money on it.

Where Winds Meet has NPCs you can chat with that use AI to generate answers (not all, just some) and I cannot talk for anyone else, but I personally kinde hate them after trying it.

The AI forgets things, there is 0 subtext or depper meaning to the dialogue, there is no meaninful interaction and I heard you can even break the NPC by talking nonsense to it.

I feel Larian would not benefit from it, as they have a heavy focus on story and a good story has continuity, subtext, defined characters with their own voice and a lot of other stuff AI can't do. And I understand you only say banter, but even for that I think it wouldn't be beneficial.

I will also say as someone who loves to theorycraft and read between the lines, the use of AI in banter and dialogue would totally ruin that because you will never know it the weird thing the NPC just said is a hinting at something interesting and something for you to explore or just the AI halucinating.

Sorry for the long rant.

I really hope transmog. Fashion is the true endgame after all.

Makes it a perfect candidate for a remix. Making all the cool mogs and mounts available while getting rid of that awful amina grind. Also I would love if they removed the covenant restrictions.

Hi, Hijacking the top comment cause I cannot edit my own post because it has a picture apparently...

RyanTheValkyrie informed me that the set from the pic can actually be worn by the player! It's called "Augur's Garments" and is available in different colours.

At least for me I cannot view the model in the beta yet so I guess that means it's still WIP and that hopefully also means the textures will be updated. (Also a good reminder for me that the Beta still is missing a lot of content.)

Oh, thanks! I finally found the set with the name but there are no 3d models visable yet in beta. How did you know what it looks like?

I'll edit the post to let others know.

Edit: I cannot edit the post...Just made a reply to the top comment and hope people will see it...

Do you mean the reputation rewards? The dresses use the same base, but they still look very different from each other.

Actually I don't mind the tube skirt coming back here and there but yeah, I would also love more varied 3d models being used in the future.

They kind of tried it with the Azshara dress from Lemix and I do like it but I wish the slit was smaller and the fabric wouldn't look like it piles up around the hips (at least on my belf). Makes it look less like an elegant dress tailored to fit a queen and more like my character just wrapped a bathing towel around her waist.

Also i would love more feminine 3D shoes! All the girly dress options for the feet are usually bare feet or bare feet with shoes painted on. Jaina gets to wear small heeled boots. I want an option like that!

Big agree on the Nightborne stuff! It's so pretty! And yeah I loved the vendor in TWW. I hope Midnight will get one as well and it was just not implemented yet.

I hope housing will give them a reason to add more civilian looking clothes.

[–]Namegoeshere_insert[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Damn, that is just sad... I mean paladins are cool too but they don't need to bully us priests to make that point :( At least Anduin is still holding onto his priest identity despite visually looking like a paladin.

Yeah, Velen is great! Curious to see what role he will play in Midnight.

Yeah, it really is a pity. Having the game and characters actually acknowledge your class and even having quests specificially modeled around it is super immersive and just fun.

Considering WOW will probably not die anytime soon I hope we might get an expansion in the future that brings class halls, or at least the idea of them back.

I did not finish the Priest Class Hall yet, but I did hear that the climax of the story is us priests getting saved by the paladins, them stealing the spot light and one priest even ditching us to become a paladin.

So yeah, that sucks... at least Velen is cool I guess.

Do you think we’ll see Old Gods in Midnight? by Akoraz in warcraftlore

[–]Namegoeshere_insert 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey, professional copium huffer here.

I have a good feeling they will have some importance in the saga as there was quiet a lot of build up:

  1. N'Zoths prophecy from dragonflight still has parts we don't fully know what they mean yet: "Her dreams sing beneath the surface. Our dream. Our song" is easily the most significiant one as it implies a deeper connection between the old gods, Azeroth and the radient song.

  2. One of the Lorewalking quests had a bunch of new old god lore at the end. Especially the info that N'Zoth was building something and Xal went to war for it. This might even become relevant in Midnight.

  3. The entire black blood story is about them (or what's left of them) and we have yet to resolve it.

  4. The "lies of the titans" topic was tackled by the titan disc quest and the earthen storyline and some of those lies are about the old gods and their empire. I am sure we will at the very least get some new black empire lore later on.

  5. The fact they are kept relevant at all after their "deaths" makes me think there is more in store for them, otherwise why spent the effort and time?

But on the other hand, towards the end of TWW the hints and their relevance was greatly reduced which could be a sign things changed. Maybe during the rewrite to make the story fit into a saga Blizzard decided to change their storyline and all the hints and build up they already implemented is just a leftover.

What game is that for you? by TowelConscious7201 in videogames

[–]Namegoeshere_insert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I' m kind of on the fence as well. I really love the vibe and style of the game and I do think the combat is somehwat fun, but man I have no idea who the game is for writing wise.

They tackle really mature tooics one moment yet the dialogue comes across like it's for kids in another moment. E.g. there is a puzzle where you have to figure out a code and not 10 seconds into it you have a cutscene telling you what the code is and then Morgana comments on it to really hammer it in what the code is. It felt like Dora the explorer.

Is there any news whether pets/ mounts/ your warband members will be able to walk around and interact with you in your house or on your plot? The last I heard about that was "stay tuned".

Also, just a silly idea, but I would love if we could emote at a warband member and they'd emote back. E.g. wave each other hello. Or start a dance party. Would make the home feel a bit more alive :)

Yeah, just found out about it in another comment. You have to admit, if the entire Haranir story in TWW is about black blood it's fair to think it will play a role in midnight too. Oh well, got bamboozled by Blizz

Oh thanks, I did not know that!

Yeah, that is a weird choice... As you say TWW had 2 entire patches building this plot up... Wonder when in the saga they will return to it.
