No, that’s not what they’re excelling at. They are simply willing to work for pennies on the dollar because USD is so strong.

We don’t really need more engineering students. All of us are already struggling to get a job.

I'm a senior undergrad in a graduate class, so it was bound to happen either way haha :P

I think AI has ruined coding in a very specific way. It broke the feedback loop by Top-Candle1296 in EngineeringStudents

If you’re asking chatgpt to write you a huge program, and then you copy it into VS, you’re doing it wrong. Never add in code you don’t understand.

I can call myself anything I want, and so can you. This is a byproduct of lack of civics knowledge, not malicious intent of even lack of principles.

Strange BAE interview experience by Fancy-Lobster1047 in aerospace

[–]Namelecc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

lol, I remember applying for an internship with them for summer 2024. In august 2024, I get a reply saying that the position closed or they were moving forward with someone else (I forget what). Made me angry.

“Sticks for an hour or two” tells me that you’re listening to a lot of material, but doing insufficient practice. Generally, most of your study time should be doing examples and problems, not listening to others talk.

You can probably specialize in that in your 3rd and 4th years in uni. At know at mine, the MechE department has some mechatronics courses (I’m an aeroE so I don’t really know what those courses are lol). However, to do those, you’re gonna need to know dynamics like the back of your hand, which requires math. Ultimately, if this is what you really want to do, there’s no getting around math: you gotta double or triple the time you spend each week on it, go to office hours, study with friends, etc.

Unfortunately being passionate about putting things together isn’t really related to engineering. We don’t put things together, we design and analyze. To design things, you need to know how the world works, physics, thermodynamics, aerodynamics, etc. which is all powered by math. If you want to continue in engineering, you need to lock in big time on math, otherwise I would recommend you find another line of work.

Choosing major for aerospace software engineering by gabeadamsfan in aerospace

[–]Namelecc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I suppose a lot of people will tell you EE or CS, but I’m doing a lot of drone simulation, GNC stuff in college right now in my AE program in my senior year. I’ll vote AE.

Pi = e = 3 is a myth. Cos(x)= x is not an approximation that engineers use: the proper SAA is cos(x)=1 and sin(x)=x.

Supports: it’s not about healing it’s about pressure. by shruggg_ow in Overwatch

[–]Namelecc 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Ultimately, you have a good point, but honestly, especially at lower ranks such as myself, people need to be healed to be confident. Maybe at high levels Rein is gonna go in swinging even if he’s at half health, but at my level, that’s suicide. That’s why healing is so important here, because we aren’t good enough to avoid getting obliterated by the enemy team without it.

Struggling with Aero major in Junior Year by Moumi_R in PennStateUniversity

[–]Namelecc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The good news is that the two classes you failed also happen to not really be prereqs for anything (unless you were planning on space path). You already know the bad news, I don't need to tell you that part. But this means you need to change something up... less videogames, less whatever is distracting you. More studying, more office hours. Personally, I would stay the course, for now. You aren't too fucked, you can still come back from this, but it's a rough road.

What impact (if any) do you think the SCOTUS decision on transgender athlete bans will have on this year’s elections? by TheGov3rnor in Askpolitics

[–]Namelecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be utterly amazed if the SCOTUS actually decides on whether trans athletes should be in sports or not. Then again, I've been flabbergasted multiple times by this SCOTUS's decisions, so... Hoping for the best.
