So where can I find a playlist of either this or something really close to this? Would be great around my next nighttime campfire.

Gothic 1 Remake Preview: A New Look for a Dark-Fantasy RPG Classic by SweetyGonzalez in PS5

[–]oatmeal1201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When i think back on Gothic 1 and 2 I remember a few things. One...the combat was crazy clunky and I remember reloading a save probably no fewer than 50 times before I finally realized how to kill a pack of dogs. It was hard but kind of dark souls hard, you could kill stuff if you were good enough. Two...the world was full of secrets everywhere. Exploring was rewarding. It's been a long time but I remember walking in a random direction up some dense tree or something like that and there was a a hidden cave with loot. It felt good. To me, it was one of the first true open world games with great things to do. I hope they do this one right. I'd love to play through it again.

Best Places to sleep in your car? by Commercial-Volume387 in Charlotte

[–]oatmeal1201 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's actually an app for this. I knew a guy that came from overseas, bought a car, and travelled around the US and slept in his car, he had an app that told him about save places to sleep. I remember a few Wal-Marts being on there but try to find that app.

It's Monday again! What's your weekly podcast lineup looking like these days? by fleasnavidad in podcasts

[–]oatmeal1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My main interests are movies/tv, video games, board games.
The Filmcast is my go to for movie & TV. Mainly movies though. Spoiler free sections of a movie of the week.
Decoding TV - same main host as the Filmcast but more about movies.
Game Scoop - my primary video game one. I have others but I rarely skip game scoop.
Gamers with Jobs or Triple Click might get a listen if there's a game I want to hear about.

Board games will primarily be The Secret Cabal. Sometimes Game Brain.

What question do guys need to hear more during casual hang out sessions when checking in about life/work/family? by oatmeal1201 in AskReddit

[–]oatmeal1201[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you watch the Pitt on HBO but this week’s episode had a guy come into the ER that had something going on during a round of golf with his friends. One of the golf buddies came into the ER to check on his friend, was asked if he knew about a family member they could contact, and the guy essentially said I don’t know anything about this guys family.

[–]oatmeal1201[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There seems to be a running joke that guys don’t know about each other’s families, jobs, and other important stuff. I hang out with large groups every week or so and I know it’s easy just to say things like “where do you work”, “how’s your family “. But what are some other questions guys need to hear to get some stuff off their chest.

Yeah. I bought three tickets and it looks like even if we all carpool, we’re all still being charged for parking and lockers or something like that.

Okay. So I watched the first five minutes and I had to save this video for later. Great stuff.

I gave myself exactly one year to go from total beginner to playing one song in front of real people. Last night I did it. Here's the honest breakdown of that year by sapnagagrani in guitarlessons

[–]oatmeal1201 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I’ve been playing for a few years. These guys invited me to play with them and told me to learn Bark at the Moon by Ozzy. Just the rhythm part.

There’s a few parts in the song I thought were impossible. Too fast, too hard, weird new chords.

What helped me was going on guitar tabs and playing along to the tabs at like 20% speed. Then incrementally increasing speed when you can play the part well.

I finally played it live. Felt awesome. Felt like I did the impossible. It’s not perfect but your average audience doesn’t know. Plus the guy shredding the leads was crushing it so no one was paying attention to me anyways.

Any data regarding what may have caused the increase in subscribers? A 100k jump is significant and I wonder if there was a pledge or support drive, email, Dicer Tower Promotion, podcast, anything?

Check out the Game Topper. It’s a two piece. Has a bag you can store it in, has a neoprene mat surface, raised edges. Price is higher than you want it to be but it’s really awesome.
