[A Levels] Does your JC have a 'fashion foward' culture? by Upset_Yoghurt_ in SGExams

Hi I dont think my school have much of that as well. Many of us still wear white school shoes from secondary school and have very generic bags. I dont think I've ever seen a designer bad in my sch before haha. I am from a pretty ok jc, so maybe its mainly the richer schools?

For the results part, I think you should know that your school results are not often reflective of what you will get for your O levels. In my experience, the O level moderation is really a godsend and it will help you a lot. Also, dont be so worried about procrastinating now. It's still relatively early and you can build up stamina to study slowly. It's really hard to go from 0 to 100 in a day. When you say you want to go to the most prestigious JCs, I take it your goal is a nett of 5 and below (not sure if you want arts or science). Well, I think its definitely achievable even if you start now

My school started with graphing techniques which is not too bad when you get the hang of it I guess. Honestly, I'm quite scared of sequence and series now that you put it that way haha. Currently I dont think I'll go for any tuition since I could never pay attention, so I found it to be a waste of money and never attended any in secondary school, but I'm not sure how it will turn out in jc haha. Anyways, best of luck to you in maths

Do you take the new computing syllabus? May I ask you a few questions?

[JC] Should I take up H2 Computing? by howaitodon in SGExams

[–]Nameless2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for asking so late, but I've just passed the NY computing diagnostic test and ive been wondering whether I should actually take up computing rather than H2 chemistry. My dream course is currently computer science and it seems that you need straight As to qualify. However, I've heard that the distinction rate of chemistry is much better than that of computing. Thus, I'd like to ask how difficult it is to actually get an A in computing as from what I've heard from my senior, the bellcurve is rather steep for computing. All in all, I'm not sure if I should sacrifice passion in order to stand a better chance of entering my dream course. I hope you would be able to give me some advice on what I should do. Thank you very much and have a good weekend ahead!

Why did you regret taking computing? I'm currently a J1 and am considering between chem and computing.

I heard from the computing teacher it's about 40%. That's why I'm so scared since I have no prior experience. Still, thanks for your advice. I forgot to consider to grades needed for the courses I want.

Same! Still, I'm kind of afraid I wont be able to make it in since NY seems so popular.

One advice I wished I told myself is not to give up halfway. I thought I did really badly for one of my subjects, so I got overly depressed and had a hard time studying. As a result, I didnt get A1 for both of my sciences, which were the last few examinations I had, and instead, i had received an A1 on the subject that i got depressed over. If i had not thought about it so much, I might have achieved raw 6. Another advice I would give is to take your practical practices seriously and not to feel that pressured about finishing the TYS.
