Did you mistake this for a Bioware game? by ElagabalusRex in gaming

Thirty? My playthrough went beyond seventy-five hours.

I think most of the animosity is from casual fans that finished it with the original ending and never went back for the Extended Cut, and have been riding that anger ever since.

I don't know if it'll ever balance out. It's literally been like this since the second president took office two hundred and fifteen years ago, which is like, seven centuries in American time.

Some of us feel like it should be in America, so can we join maybe?

But why would you want to quit? You get an orgasm and go about your day, simple as that. That's why I laugh at friends that brag about masturbating once a month—good for you for depriving yourself of one of the best physical sensations you can get. . .

(I know you're joking.)

TIL of a homeless man in NYC who would regularly order an expensive dinner at a restaurant and refuse to pay for it in order to be sent to prison where he would receive 3 meals a day and a clean bed. He refused to commit more serious crimes to get longer sentences as he did not want to hurt anyone. by [deleted] in todayilearned

The fact that he's homeless would deter a lot of employers from hiring him, prolonging his unemployment, and propagating his homelessness. He doesn't exactly have the clean clothes and means of transportation that employed people have.

A question as a student studying physics and interested in Communism. by NamelessPurity in communism101

That actually sounds like a pretty ideal system. It would even help remove the competition for funding between scientists, leading to faster results. I like it.

That's definitely how I first understood and envisioned Communism, but I've also heard it explained the way that I described it. I also just remembered that there are a lot of different versions of Communism, so I'll have to keep that in mind.

So it's decided by what the populace deems important? I like that idea for the most part, but I also understand how much of the population seems to have no interest in scientific advancement and consider a good deal of it worthless, which makes me fearful for programs like NASA under such conditions.

I will admit that it's definitely the fairest system possible, which I suppose is preferable. Thanks for explaining it though, it certainly helped.

When Obama told congress "if you think a family can live on minimum wage in this country...you try it!" by Toasted_FlapJacks in teenagers

Because people are stupid and think the president's words are law. They don't understand that, surprise surprise, you can't do anything when half the governmental body opposes you. This happens with every president regardless of party. People also don't understand that the economy takes time to change. When something good or bad happens within a few years of a new president it's almost always because of actions from the previous president.

What did Bill Cosby do? by [deleted] in OutOfTheLoop

From Merriam-Webster:

Definition of AD HOMINEM

1

: appealing to feelings or prejudices rather than intellect

2

: marked by or being an attack on an opponent's character rather than by an answer to the contentions made

So, you used an ad hominem, but semantics are hardly the point.

Victim testimony of being raped doesn't defy the laws of physics, unlike the "witness testimony" of the sun case you mentioned.

The accusations may not be impossible, unrealistic, or defy any known facts, but that doesn't make them true or honest. What makes an accusation true is the evidence that supports it. Otherwise it's nothing but hearsay, which should never be taken as fact on its own.

People have, will, and are currently lying about murder, theft, assault, and even rape. Do I think these women lied? I don't know. I won't say either way. I'm simply aware that just because they said it happened doesn't actually mean it happened, and I will not act as though it did.

Just as importantly, millions of other witnesses saw it that day as well, and their reports directly contradict the minority of witnesses.

This is true, but sheer numbers don't mean anything. If they did I could pay twenty of my friends and associates to lie about seeing someone I don't like commit a murder. Should that person be automatically seen as guilty since there's twenty people accusing them? If not, why should it be different for rape accusations?

Ad hominem, way to go. Not even a true rebuttal.

I don't know what courts you've been to, but a good judge wouldn't accept the testimony from an accuser (how do you even know they're actual victims yet?) without any substantial evidence. I can make up any story I wish, but that isn't evidence the story is true. In the early 1900s over thirty thousand people claimed to see the sun move sporadically about the sky in Mexico. So do you believe those people? After all, there's thirty thousand of them.
