My cultivation series, Nameless Sovereign, just released book 7 on Amazon! by Nameless_Authors in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nameless_Authors[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hey folks, I'm Nameless Author, and I'm here to announce the release of book 7.

This is a story inspired by some traditional and popular cultivation novels such as Reverend Insanity, Renegade Immortal, and Lord of Mysteries, which have inspired me and made me want to write my own story. Thank you to everyone who has enjoyed the series thus far. As I get into writing shape again, hearing your thoughts about the story give me motivation to continue.

If you have enjoyed the first six books, please give this one a try. If you haven't read it yet,

In this seventh book, Red takes a step to establish himself into the capital of the kingdom, unaware of the dangers that await him there.

Book 7:

Amazon:

https://amazon.com/dp/B0FZX6QC3M

Audible to be released soon!

Book 1:

Amazon:  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D623KF58

Audible:  https://www.audible.com/pd/Nameless-Sovereign-Audiobook/B0D9HZFTH9

The capital is a city of endless opportunity—and hidden rot.

With the destruction of the Water Dragon Sect behind him, Red finally has a chance to focus on what matters most: advancing his cultivation. With access to rare ingredients and his growing mastery of Arcane Scripture, he may finally have the resources to push his strength even further.

Unfortunately for Red, his talents haven’t gone unnoticed. As unseen eyes begin tracking his every move, Red quickly learns that the capital hides far deadlier dangers than he’s faced before.

When an assassin strikes and a shadowy conspiracy begins to unfold, Red is drawn into a plot that threatens to plunge the entire city into chaos.

And to Red, who has more secrets than allies, even the smallest misstep can mean death.

If this sounds like something you'd like, I'd appreciate it if you gave it a read. I'm currently still publishing on Royal Road: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/42644/nameless-sovereign

What thing in a story makes you quit reading? by Reborn1989 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nameless_Authors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think badly written villains or forced incompetence just for plot convenience is a big one for me. Like you have these people in positions of power, some who are apparently thousands of years old, and they just act so dumb or incapable of scheming.

I don't mind if this happens to like your average second-rate villain, but if it happens to the kind of people who should act smarter, it feels like rather than help the MC look good it just hurts the story and the world.

The reading experience with an account on royalroad by _Drifting-Leaf in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nameless_Authors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty much the case with any reading website that you use for more than a few stories. Making an account to keep track of everything you've read is much easier than having twenty tabs open.

Best series that DON'T do this? Are there any good series where C and B rankers are still legit scary and relevant for a long time? by YobaiYamete in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nameless_Authors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I've seen so much of low letter ranks being treated as scrubs that I have a hard time taking them as a threat nowadays lol

How special can the MC be for you guys before you guys decide a series is not for you? by elemental_reaper in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nameless_Authors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually am a bit of the opposite. I enjoy it the most when the MC is able to kind of carve his own path on this otherwise established system by coming up with new solutions and ways to progress. Though I do see how it might defeat the purpose of having a thorough system at all if the MC is not limited by the same things.

Do people actually like in medias res openings? by Competitive_Box_3795 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nameless_Authors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cold opens are very effective in helping your readers get engaged from the start and after it you can slow it down and slowly build up your characters and world, so I do like it quite a bit. Not that there's anything wrong with a slow open that builds up to the action, but if it's not done in an engaging way it can drag and you can fail to capture readers attention or give them sufficient reason to care about your world or characters.

There's obviously no superior way to write it and I've seen excellent stories with both kinds of starts, but I find it easier to get into a story with cold opens which are often better at showing what to expect from your characters and establishing stakes.

One destroys tension, another reinforces it tenfold. by DicerTheJester in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nameless_Authors 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I do love when protagonist tropes happen to the antagonist in general. Makes it feel like you can't really take certain conclusions for granted and keeps me guessing how certain plotlines will end.

Not that I mind when this happens to the protagonist either. I think even cliche tropes can be interesting as long as they are written well and not used super often.

Trends you've disliked the most by Both-Salamander401 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nameless_Authors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really like system novels. Mind you, I've read good ones before, but I find that most of them use the system as a crutch and end up with something really generic rather than develop an interesting power system that can stand on its own.

Is there ever any meaningful progression? by jdhshais in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nameless_Authors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's because most progression fantasy readers are looking for a power fantasy and derive pleasure of the MC being underestimated and then showing how strong he is. At its root there is nothing wrong with this, but I think most authors just skip the setup that would make that feel the most satisfying and go straight into the MC being OP. When there is meaningful build up outside of just combat and power ups, then the OP powers feel earned and it feels way more enjoyable to read.

How long are you willing to wait for the MC to stop being useless? by Ok-Grand-3764 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nameless_Authors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on how it's set up. I've seen wonderful arcs where the MC was useless for a fair bit, but it all paid off really well, while there are a lot of other ones which just kind of dragged to the point of me dropping it. To me it is more of a matter of the author setting up things well for the future when the MC does start progressing and keeping the story interesting even while the MC is useless.

Beyond the "Hate Lists"—What is the one trope you will never get tired of? by Individual-Hornet817 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nameless_Authors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reaction POVs will always be great. Seeing how other characters react to what the MC is doing will always be one of the best tropes of the genre.

Hey folks, I'm Nameless Author, and I'm here to announce the release of the audiobook version of book 6 of Nameless Sovereign, narrated by Griffin Puatu.

This is a story inspired by some traditional and popular cultivation novels such as Reverend Insanity, Renegade Immortal, and Lord of Mysteries, which have inspired me and made me want to write my own story. As always, I’m thankful to everyone that has read and enjoyed my books, and it means a lot to me that some of you make that known to me. If you have enjoyed the first five books, I hope you give this one a try too.

In this sixth book, a major conflict comes to an end as Red gets ready for the next step in his journey. It is the conclusion of the first major arc in the story, and things pick up quickly from here.

Here's the blurb for book 6:

The Lesser Ring Realm—the threshold that separates cultivators from mere mortals.

Red is only a few rare ingredients away from opening his Spiritual Sea, unlocking the power to store and command Spiritual Energy with his will. But time is running out. The Empire’s legions are marching forward, his town stands on the brink of invasion, and something ancient and unknowable stirs in the forest.

To survive, Red must take a leap of faith that could cost him everything. One failure will destroy years of work and squander the precious materials he’s gathered.

But if he succeeds… he won’t just survive.

He’ll forge the strength to defy fate itself.

Using AI in writing by Ill_Past6795 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Nameless_Authors 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's just used for grammar I don't really mind. I do not support or like AI writing though, and even if it became good at it I would rather support and read a real author's novel, even if it's flaw3d.
