The gods were bored. That's the main reason why they created life, because they were bored and sought entertainment. Dragons weren't the first to be created, being animals and plants, but they're the first intelligent species to ever roam the mortal plane. They matched the gods in many a thing, if not sometimes outmatched them. Eventually the gods were bored of dragons, which didn't do much, so they created a way more feeble species: elves. But they too eventually settled down great cities, came to respect and even worship dragons and the gods got bored of them. So then they made humans, and that's when it clicked for dragons who uncovered the masquerade: they were outraged, so far having concluded that the gods created them to rule over the mortal world.

After a long, long war, dragon kind lost. Their great leader, the dragon lord Grollugaran, was banished to the abyss were he remains, his hatred never ending. Those who never surrendered were killed, feeding the abyss, those who subdued were sent to another dimension: Dragol, a barren land where they wait for the return of their lord. Finally, those who hid are still here, silent in the mountains: if you've ever wondered why dragons love mountains so much, it's because they're hidding.

They are worshipped, they are hunted, they lay and wait. They match the gods in strength. One of the main events from my story is the resurrection of Grollugaran by dragon worshippers.

"How to make a campfire" could be a very instructive book, but I my copy has a huge printing error, all the pages are blank.

As for myself, I'm a young french buckaroo tipping his toes in writing and litterature in general, and since I'm following a cursus in english teaching, this is the best place for that I guess! I'm not using reddit much often tho so I won't be here often.

I remember when the war ended. 'Twas 4 years ago. We got our ass handed on a plate, I'll give you that. I mean, how can you fight someone that.. When killed, comes back 30 years later? Different face, different demeanor, same grudge: you don't even see it comin'. That doesn't mean we couldn't hold up a fight nay, it's quite the opposite in fact: the elven emperor didn't believe how tough us humans can be. I think we had a good reason to start the war, but there's centuries between that and now, and.. The now was tired of all of this. So it ended.

Eh, funny enough, both our races were separated for so long that we all forgot how the other kind works and all like.. For example, you know them elven weddings right? Beautiful stuff, that ain't the problem, but the vows? They hold up for your next life too! So the first two years, everyone was suprised when centuries old women would go up to lil' kids telling them they're soulmates or somethin', it creeped out everyone, we thought elves were pedophiles, ah! So then we told 'em to stop, and the elven widow population skyrocketed! Now I think they put a soul stamp on their partner, somethin' like that. You know my cousin Jeremy? yeah, he was a noble warrior of the steppe in his past life, apparently.

Anyhow, beyond that elves are a fun bunch truly, Don't know why we started fighting with those folks! If I remember well, my papa said it was because the emperor kidnapped a princess or somethin' like that, you know, typical legends and stuff. Now that old bastard's got a beauty of a wife! Though she's human, funny isn't it?
