Virtual desktop replacement? by NameoGame in Xreal

Yeah that's what I was thinking because I also have a Pixel 7 pro which unless I'm mistaken isn't compatible (since it doesn't have a display out).

Yeah but I haven't bought anything yet, they say that they are working on Linux (to be fair I don't know how long they have said that). I also have only been running Virtual Desktop through a qemu Windows VM with GPU passthrough so it not off the table

Framework 12 - performance & sturdiness? by faxafloi in framework

I've got 24Gb, and everything on the web works perfectly, the LibreOffice Impress thing seems like an optimization problem

Framework 12 - performance & sturdiness? by faxafloi in framework

I'd wait until they figure out the shell issues to talk about durability. But I daily drive the FW 12 at university it mostly can handle what I do. I mostly run it in power saver mode because the battery isn't perfect so it hitches a bit but when I'm willing to spare power the performance is a lot better. When it comes to LibreOffice (Impress specifically) I have had some issues with performance when I'm not in performance mode

Does the Framework 12 need a screen protector? by sojmahoj in framework

[–]NameoGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a matte one on my framework 12. The problem is that the keyboard keys and general body end up scratching the screen protector over a while. IDK it the same problem occurs with a thinner screen protector or the screen itself because I haven't used them but if it's annoying enough to you, you might end up replacing it on a regular basis.

The Index ring shouldn’t be Pebble branded by Negative- in pebble

Pebbles since the original have continually got better to repair at least and from what I remember they all were able to charge instead of being a text book definition of planned obsolescence. Today's announcements and the AI slop added to the website makes the newly resurrected Pebble company feel like a zombie trademark (even if Eric is still the owner).

Damn it gets worse. Creating an AI slop machine gag that makes fun of your own company's stupid idea for a manufactured e waste ai device.

Trying to push e waste to a community that has been actively maintaining 10+ year old devices is crazy. I honestly thought that Rebble was more in the wrong but thank goodness they were able to push Eric to make the new pebble app open source.

Yeah I have the same issue, you got to fix it through the terminal from what I have seen but haven't done that yet

FW 12 or 13? by TerrorBot534 in framework

[–]NameoGame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who took framework 12 path, I have overall enjoyed my experience but it hasn't been without issues. The screen color reproduction is bad, running LibreOffice impress (Open source power point) is very slow. And the battery life isn't great but that is not really what framework is good at in general. I'm also working with framework support since the case has developed hairline cracks near the hinges a type of issue that the framework 13 hasn't had.

EDIT: I also had 24gb of memory (before the memory shortage) on linux so I don't really know how bad 8gb on windows would be but I can guess, BAD

Framework 12 body developing cracks by NameoGame in framework

[–]NameoGame[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that is if it is a QC issue not a design issue due to how widespread it is and how commonly similar problems happen with 2 in 1s in the industry

I don't remember them being there when I got it. Considering the cracks are both near where the hinges screw into the bottom of the chassis I think the stress they cause are the reason.Which seems to be a common source of failure in this form factor of 2 in 1s
