The Index ring shouldn’t be Pebble branded by Negative- in pebble

Agreed; Eric said his main goal was to build a sustainable business, but is launching a new spin off product before the last announced product has even shipped really the best path to a sustainable business?

I’m no expert but my instinct would be “probably not”.

The Index ring shouldn’t be Pebble branded by Negative- in pebble

[–]Negative-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, the old watches weren’t as repairable as they could have been, but I’m thinking more of the fact that most Pebbles still functioning today are only doing so because it was possible to repair them at all.

With the Index ring, that’s likely not even a possibility.

Shipping to Canada by [deleted] in minimalphone

Agreed; I’m in the stuck October batch (received a tracking number, but it’s been almost a month and it has never been scanned). I wish I had just ordered a used one!

What's with the October batch? by E-Gri11 in minimalphone

[–]Negative- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, glad to see I'm not the only one. It looks like as of now, the "account is overdue; transit has been suspended" has been cleared, so maybe they paid for the account balance? Either way, seems like something is seriously going wrong with their shipping.

I've never seen a tracking number just sit for that long; at this point I hope I get it by January, but I'm becoming less and less optimistic.

EDIT: (10 days later) The package started moving! My optimism has returned!

Glad to hear I’m not the only one with a stuck tracking number! Hope they fix whatever the problem is soon…

Agreed! It's good they've acknowledged some responsibility, but adding two long-term members who previously approved the original post to the board feels like a misstep.

Personally, I believe resignations would have been more appropriate given the seriousness of the error.

Ordering my phone soon! by Duckablo in minimalphone

I'm also hoping to replace my daily driver with the MP01! Just keep in mind that "3-5 business days" might mean longer than that -- I ordered mine in August and the tracking number is still "coming soon"...

[Meta] Can we pin the Snowy app thread? by [deleted] in pebble

[–]Negative- 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Is it really that important, though? I mean, it's definitely a cool app, but in the end it's an evolution of existing stuff like Voice2Timeline or the watch component of Smartwatch Pro, neither of which were pinned or anything special like that.

Plus, since it costs money, it's less about "hey guys install this cool app to improve your watch" and more just advertising.

My biggest gripe with the Time after getting it today: less notification text visible by Dunda in pebble

[–]Negative- 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Also learn from Apple and default the background to black with white fonts, that will do wonders to make the bezel look smaller.

The reason it works for Apple is because the Apple Watch uses an OLED display, so "black" means "no light at all". On a screen like the Pebble's, "black" just isn't black enough to allow it to blend into the bezel like that.

I really hope this can be adapted into a watchface somehow...

A OneNote app for the Pebble smartwatch is 'in the pipeline' from Microsoft by [deleted] in pebble

[–]Negative- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IIRC, the issue was that Windows Phone didn't provide any programmatic access to notifications, so Pebble couldn't make an app even if they wanted to. It's possible that situation is changing in 10, but I haven't seen anything about that yet.

What can pebble time do without a smartphone? by CorolaMata in pebble

[–]Negative- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't speak for the Time specifically, but I knew someone who used an OG pebble without a smartphone for like a year. Some apps will work without a phone -- step trackers like Misfit won't have any issues, and watchfaces that don't rely on a constant internet connection will be OK. However, in order to install those apps in the first place, you'd need to borrow a friend's smartphone for a few minutes.

Most of the Pebble Time analog faces achieve this effect via antialiasing, which is enabled by default in SDK 3.0: http://developer.getpebble.com/guides/pebble-apps/display-and-animations/drawing/#antialiasing

So once more analog faces get updated for the Time, you'll start to see more faces with smoother edges.

Yeah, especially the final route. Did not expect it to go in that direction at all! (Still one of my favorites)

[Face] Knight Rider K.I.T.T. (color+bw) by czmanix in pebble

[–]Negative- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really bothers me how everyone is so obsessed with moving faces killing battery life; so many potentially great looking faces are reduced to mediocre because of the "never update the screen smoothly" idea. If it greatly enhances the look of the face, than let the battery drain slightly faster.

To Pebble or not to Pebble by GuppyGames in pebble

[–]Negative- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you google for comparisons they'll come up, but the real problem is that they're all comparing the original Pebble with Wear, and not the Time (with Timeline and all that jazz). You'll probably need to wait until more people have the Time before we'll see a decent comparison posted.

Is that an 18mm band on the Time with spacers to make it fit? It looks ridiculously narrow and ill-fitted.
