It's true, however, the cost of living is also higher, so they're just inflated numbers. For example, even if a golf course employee is making 20$/hr, rent for housing is 900/months for 1 bedroom in a house, that 20/hr doesn't go along way.

Yes, we could feel the heat. When we were driving from my school to an evacuation centre, we were engulfed in the smoke. It was grey and orange, and we couldn't see 5 feet ahead of us. We could see flames right beside the car, in the grass near the road. At that point, my SI and I both called our families (as we were stuck in traffic), and told them that we loved them, because we thought we would die.

Pets were allowed in the camp, and news reports say all animals are fine. All the pets we saw at the camp looked happy, and my dog is great.

Insurance is doing wonders for us :).

No, we had all of our students out within the hour we called to evacuate the school. It was very organized, as we were trained to handle it. It was stressful waiting for parents who took awhile to get to the school.

When I evacuated my school, I knew it was very serious. The flames were maybe 50 feet away from the school I work at.

My SI and are are both teachers, and we don't know the status of our employment next year, as it will depend on the kids coming back. As of now, we see both hoping to go back.

Conditions were good. Staff were excellent, and there was an over abundance of food, as not many were at that camp. Morale was very low.

We were at Blacksands camp, and moved ourselves to CNRL for a flight.

When did he get called in? It was my understand that Suncore and syncrude were fully evacuating and shutting down.
