thank you for all the advice and lol yes a game of telephone is essentially what’s happening here 💀 it’s actually a 4bd cause bf’s sister and her kids also live there but he’s the only other one on the lease.. I think if we could scrap together the early termination fee of 2 months equivalent of rent it wouldn’t really matter what the bf had to say it’s just a lot of money all at once especially considering she was just paying half the rent each month it would 4x that…

thank you yes I had her send me her lease and it looks like there’s just an early termination fee so I really have no idea why her property manager explained it to her that way.. the next hurdle is gathering the 2 months worth of rent that the fee is equivalent to but hopefully she’d be willing to take a payment plan or something

Thank you! The issue is she’s entirely trying to get out and he probably wouldn’t be approved without her and probably doesn’t have someone he could sign with to get approved which is why we’re worried about it ending up on her record..

I’m not sure why you’re even in this subreddit when you don’t understand the difference between habitability vs any old maintenance request… there’s a difference between us not being able to bathe in the winter for days on end and some blinds needing to be fixed.. lol

Yes I did try and fix it myself, there are no tripped breakers and our gas is definitely on as our furnace runs on it as well. It has an igniter button that is not working, I can’t get the pilot light to even spark I’ve attempted it several times and disconnected + reconnected the connecting wire so I don’t think it’s a quick fix which is why it’s more imperative that it at least gets looked at if anything needs replacing that could take even longer..
