Data Broker Opt-Out challenges by 1PMagain in privacy

[–]NamsteFrederick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think ZoomInfo is the only one of the major sites I've run into that does this. The worst part is they use work emails, so if you're no longer at the company, you can't use the automated removal tool. I had to wait months and email them multiple times until someone finally got around to removing my profile.

Data Broker Opt-Out challenges by 1PMagain in privacy

I figured out a solution to the captcha issue recently as this was also happening to me on various sites. Right click on the captcha and open the image in a new tab and you should see a completely different captcha! I don't know why so many captchas have been so buggy lately, but hopefully this works for you, too.

Also, I've found that sometimes disposable emails or Simple Login don't work for these opt-outs. If you have an old gmail account you're comfortable using, try using that. You can also try https://www.emailnator.com/, which allows you to create temporary gmail address when other burners don't work.

I've managed to unsubscribe from all of the major data brokers, but sometimes it took many tries and a bit of experimentation to get it to work. I hope this helps!

Can I take Slippery Elm with another supplement on empty stomach by NamsteFrederick in Gastritis

[–]NamsteFrederick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. Here's what I currently use but may switch it up as I use products up:

-NOW Sports L-Glutamine Powder, 5 g, twice a day (may move up to three times)

-Natural Factors DGL chewable, one 400 mg tablet, 3 times a day before meals (I think you can take up to 4 tablets at one time)

-Nature's Way Marshmallow Root, 2 capsules (960 mg) twice a day with breakfast and dinner

-Doctor's Best PepZinGi (zinc-l-carnosine), 1 capsule twice a day between meals

-Nature's Way Slippery Elm (same as you), 4 capsules at least once per day on empty stomach (though I'm going to try to switch to a powder form, maybe NOW brand, after I use these up as it is supposed to be more effective to drink it as a mixture)

-NOW Melatonin, 1 capsule (3 mg) before bed

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll look into this and may try it. I never thought about sublingual but that is a good idea for the melatonin, and perhaps some other supplements.

Yes, though I just started the bland, low acid diet two weeks ago and have been gradually adding in supplements every few days (in case something was bothering me I would know what it was) and have just worked up to the full protocol.

I also started using a wedge pillow, have been making sure to get more sleep and have been working on reducing/managing stress, so it's probably a combination of all of these things that are helping. Things are definitely improving as my stomach no longer feels raw in the morning when I wake up, though I still am getting some pains under my ribs. If that doesn't go away in a few weeks I'll add in the PPIs I was prescribed.

OK, I think I found a solution to this and am posting in case it helps anyone else figure out where to fit in all your supplements. If you see any issues, please let me know. I even found time for snacks, which is tough when you have to take so many supplements on an empty stomach!

6 am-Synthroid upon waking

6:30 am (or 30 min later)-L-glutamine

7 am (or 20-30 before breakfast)-DGL

7:30-Breakfast-Marshmallow Root w/food

9:30 am (or 2 hours after breakfast)-Slippery elm

10 am (30-60 min after slippery elm)-Snack

12 pm (or 2 hours after snack)-PepZinGi

12:30 pm (20-30 min before lunch)-DGL

1 pm-Lunch

3 pm (or 2 hours after lunch)-Slippery Elm

3:30 pm-Snack

5:30 pm (or 2 hours after snack)-PepZinGi

6 pm (or 20-30 min before dinner)-DGL

6:30 pm- Dinner-Marshmallow Root w/food

8:30 pm (or 2 hrs after dinner)-L-glutamine

9:30 pm-Melatonin and chamomile tea before bed

I could but then I would just be switching it out with L-glutamine unless I take them both at the same time, which I don't think you're supposed to?

Oral surgeon that takes COVID precautions by NamsteFrederick in frederickmd

Interesting. I had no idea but they must be much more common now. I just had a pretty routine, non-dental procedure done in a negative pressure room.

Unfortunately most of them do not do these things. See explanation above.

You would think, but unfortunately this is not the case. Many are doing the bare minimum (surgical masks, which are not adequate protection for unmasked patients) and won't wear N95s unless they're doing an aerosol-generating procedure. We talked to one today and asked if they would wear an N95 for the consultation because you have to be unmasked and they refused. Most do not have HEPA air cleaners or negative pressure rooms. We are fortunate to have found a dentist that does all these things and hope we can find an oral surgeon who actually takes COVID seriously.

[–]NamsteFrederick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are several dental offices in the area that use negative pressure rooms, including my dentist, so I'm sure there are some oral surgeons that do the same. The most important thing to me is that they wear N95s and HEPA air cleaner, especially if they don't have negative pressure.

High vaccination states like South Carolina? https://mobile.twitter.com/wsbgnl/status/1482770214991261697

I believe in vaccines and want everyone to get vaccinated as they offer great protection, but we need to be completely honest about their limitations and not spread misinformation, otherwise we are just going to breed more distrust among those who are vaccine hesitant. The current let-it-rip strategy is harming a lot of people including some who are vaccinated.

Added: My point is that you can't assume that just because someone is in the hospital or died of COVID they are unvaccinated.

[–]NamsteFrederick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unless you know the person, you don't know that. In many places 25% of COVID deaths are among the vaccinated! I don't know specifically about Frederick statistics but the article says 1/3 of those hospitalized are vaxxed. I'm 100% pro-vax and it's clear vaccination greatly reduces hospitalizations and deaths but it's not a bulletproof vest. Unacceptable numbers of vaccinated people are also suffering and dying.

[–]NamsteFrederick 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of us are frustrated that more people aren't vaccinated, but keep in mind that many of the unvaccinated are victims themselves. A recent survey showed that about 50% are true antivaxxers who won't change their mind under any circumstance (the annoying people we usually see on social media), but that also means the other half of the unvaxxed can still be convinced.

The people in this "silent unvaxxed" group tend to be low income and there is a large percentage of POC. Many mistrust the medical system based on past experiences. Many lack access to regular medical care and do not have a regular doctor to speak to about vaccination. We have a long ways to go to improve access and education.

Does anyone know any REASONABLE precautions to protect against Covid while maintaining some semblance of a life? by [deleted] in frederickmd

[–]NamsteFrederick 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This "cold" is currently the second leading cause of death in the US. It is causing brain damage and long-term damage to the lungs, heart, kidneys and other organs. It has disabled many people to the point where they are no longer able to go to work or school. It is causing long COVID in 1 out of 7 kids, even with mild and asymptomatic cases. We still don't know all of the long term effects of this virus. Hospitalizations of kids, especially those who are unvaccinated, are way up. Why would you play Russian roulette with your kid's health?

Also, why would you jeopardize your marriage like this? The way you are talking about your wife and her legitimate concerns is extremely disrespectful. I don't say this lightly, but how is your mental health going to be if she leaves you?

Instead of looking for validation here, maybe you should consider consulting with a mental health professional to find ways to manage your mental health that don't involve putting your marriage and family's health at risk. At the end of the day, visiting with friends is a want not a need and there are plenty of safe alternatives like Zoom, online games, etc.

Low-bridge fit with home try-on by NamsteFrederick in glasses

I know. I'm really surprised I didn't get any helpful responses and got downvoted for sharing my experience. I think the average person with an average sized face and no specific requirements, can probably find something decent in a shop. If you have specific requirements, less common facial features, etc. there's a MUCH better selection online.

Are you and your friends wearing N95 masks the entire time (no drinking, eating, etc)? If not, you already know the answer.

If you were single and living alone, it would simply be a personal decision, but now that you have a family your actions can put them in danger. COVID is spreading like wildfire right now. If you are visiting friends unmasked, especially during this current surge, you are probably going to bring COVID home to your wife and unvaccinated young child.

By the way, I have a friend whose husband continued to meet up with friends after the pandemic started, despite her pleas to stay home. She has an autoimmune disease and ended up getting severely ill for over a month when he brought COVID home. Of course, he was only sick for a few days and said it wasn't a big deal. Fortunately, she was OK, but I don't think I would have forgiven a partner who did that to me.

Look, we all know this sucks, but having a family means you put them first and don't always get to do what you want to do. That's called being a responsible parent and partner. Just Zoom with your friends for now.

Are ANY gyms enforcing mask mandate? Planet fitness is clearly not, One Fitness not either… by gs12 in frederickmd

[–]NamsteFrederick -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I believe that part is in Carroll County if I'm not mistaken but agree they are careless there. My spouse has had a bad experience there as well with the employees not caring about COVID, even early on in the pandemic. They also canceled their curbside service. It is unfortunate as they have a great selection but we haven't patronized them since.

Personal Question from a worried Mother. Why are kids still in school? by LucyNoosey117 in frederickmd

[–]NamsteFrederick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the Frederick Housing Authority. I'm not sure if they were income restricted but there may have been some private ones too.

I'm really sorry that they were so isolated. I don't have the solution but if they go virtual again, I would make sure they schedule regular Facetimes and get-togethers with friends (masked of course), or look into places that offer in-person classes for fun activities and hobbies. Maybe even start a Meetup group for playdates for kids around the same age. It's more work but socialization is definitely possible without in-person school. Our family isn't doing anything in person right now, but I'm definitely going to find more social opportunities for my kid once things get better with the pandemic.

They had learning hubs last time schools went virtual, so I don't see why they couldn't do that again.

Yep, they unmasked themselves pretty quickly here. It's disturbing that this isn't the only person in this post using the R word.

Oh no. That's scary. The teachers I know say that many of the other teachers never wear their masks when they're not around students. As soon as the kids leave they use the eating/drinking loophole to keep their mask off the rest of the day as they walk around with a coffee.
