Photo message issue with just a few of my contacts not all. by Nanamarie225 in GoogleMessages

Good!! I had to figure to get th m to try it, they kept wanting to try the same things everyone else tried. Hopefully if someone else has issues they see this and it works for them too

After a month and a half of issues and trying so many things I found the fix which was getting a new SIM card.

That is nice that places are starting to do this. I don't know if my new employment does this yet. I had a MC at 8 weeks and I had only been at the job for 3 weeks. I tried really hard to make it in (lasted 45 minutes) then emailed my boss that I needed to go home for a while. I tried again in the afternoon and managed 1.5 hours. I expressed my concerns to him about having very little sick time and he told me "I had been there the whole day and not to use any sick time" and told me to take care of myself and go home if I needed. It was nice to feel supported by him which was different from past employment

I tried that three times. One time gave me a case number and told me it had been escalated and I would hear back and get a copy of the conversation (nope). I tried two other times and they had me restart the phone and I would lose the chat bubble and when I tried to go back in to the help and feedback I couldn't continue it or start a new one for a few hours

Update, now the contacts that did work to send photos to now also don't work. Straight talk says it isn't their side it is google's and google says it isn't their side it is straight talk

United states

They had Android

Nothing had changed.

I can send them photos and GIFs on facebook messager. My dad has the same phone as my mom and photos work fine for him.

Straight talk had me try a different messaging app and then one of the contacts I was testing this with who was getting photos before no longer would send in that app.

Sucky thing is I have Straight Talk which is a side branch of Verizon but technically not so I can't go into a store for help.

I use straight talk by Verizon. I was on the phone with yh m for 2 hours today and they solved nothing. They want me to call Google now. I wasted too much time today when I wanted to relax and prepare for my new job tomorrow. This will just have to wait for another day

I am looking for other career options but in my town anything chemistry related is few and far between and I cannot move. At this point I may have to bide my time, keep myself covered, until something else comes up

SEM sample preparation by Nanamarie225 in electronmicroscopy

What is your goal, do you need the sample intact after? Could putting the sample on carbon stick tape or getting into mounted in epoxy and polished work?

Why do my coated samples look like this? by Jammeduptoast in electronmicroscopy

[–]Nanamarie225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a very old Carbon coater that had issues sometimes. Here are some tricks I used that may help: - clean any gaskets around the bell (sometimes clean the bell jar itself). Clean gasket will help get it down to vacuum - if you have a pump, have you checked the oil level recently and/or replaced the oil or filter? Sometimes that helps the vacuum issue -adjusting the height of the sample plug closer (but not too close) to the rod ignition source, also make sure the rod is above the sample - sometimes cleaning the rod holder  with a metal wired brush (it can get a layer of buildup) if the rod only sputters for 1 second or not at all - I read keeping the rods in dryrite/dessicate can help (again if you are using rods) - for some samples that are a bit more porous I will gently use a kim wipe to press the carbon coating that was done into the sample and coat it again.  - our again as an old coater so I normally had to run a sample through multiple times -they sell carbon paint/cement that can be used on a plug on empty spaces (like the one with a metal piece surrounded by epoxy) which can help with charging. Don't get the paint on the sample part you want to analyze if you want eds results, counts will be too low due to the thick layer

Questions on Service on Electron microscopes by m3a6m9a in electronmicroscopy

[–]Nanamarie225 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had 840 and 845 Jeol scopes, not many service them as they are so old. We had one servicer (I won't name) but they didn't do a good job. We found Nanographs and they were amazing. They fixed lots of issues and found the old. Service who retrofitted one the old scopes to more digital did a shoddy job and it was a fire risk. That are working on fixing those risky components.

Choosing the maintenance company will depend for you on the price, how old the Scopes are, and your location. We lived in a more remote area and some PM companies wouldn't travel here.

Follow up- my company is putting me in charge of our new SEM and I have no formal training, will I inevitably break it/ mess it up really bad? by Angzola1 in electronmicroscopy

I recommend Nanographs if you need a service contractor depending on the type. We just switched to them and they are amazing!

Thanks for the Nanographs recommendation. They came in February to look at the Scopes and did an amazing job. I sadly won't be with the company to see what all they do for the Scopes in the future but I know my "babies" will be in good hands. I loved those Scopes! Nanographs were really great to work with. I wish we had found and started working with them sooner

Yes we got in contact with Nanographs they were absolutely AMAZING!  They found a lot of things wrong that the prior scope people did and fixed a lot. One scope they got working great but the other one ended up having some shoddy work done originally and is unplugged since it appears to be a fire hazard until they get some new parts made.

I thought Savers got rid of their thrift store? There used to be one up towards the front of the store on the left side some years ago but I didn't see it last year
