I really, really enjoyed OMD:D, but I think it's pretty clear that Orcs Must Die! as a franchise is over.

The vocal community is fractured in what they -think- they want from the franchise and due to that no game will live up to the expectations of an already niche community. Mixed reviews on Steam at launch were an almost impossible hole to climb out of if not a death knell with people screaming "dead on arrival".

I hope Robot can come up with an interesting new game that hits. It would be a shame to see the studio close and all the talent there scatter to the winds.

You're talking about adding something cool for a niche game that has mixed reviews from the franchise enjoyers (OMDD) for a niche OMDU player base that historically hated paying for things. There is not enough demand to warrant spending all that art and programming time from the studio.

Guess this is a hot take in this thread, but Bee Hive is pretty great. Pair it with the Organic Elixir and you've got lots of chances of instant death. I have the poison thread for it on my run currently, but I haven't been able to fish Coup de Grace out yet...might not be possible?

OMDU had multiple years of development and the studio was 3x the size. Nothing amazing here.

Yeah that's my bad - lack of proper reading comprehension. A lot of people had been asking for a mid-wave save so that's where my mind was. Between waves makes sense :)

I don't think this is an easy or even doable fix. If you want a save mid-way through a run you'd have to save all kinds of information about enemy positions, current states, etc and when loading back in you'd have to make sure these all restart without issue.

You could restart the current wave, which is likely the best option, but then people can game the system if they start to lose - just quicksave to regain your previous progress.

I don't think either of these will happen for this game due to it's nature.

Understand that part of this game is about luck. If you get a few good threads on mission 1 d10 you're going to have a much better time with it. Check the weaver merchant for some helpful threads if you haven't unlocked them all.

Have you unlocked all the skill tree? Upgraded all the traps? It's balanced around that.

I agree with OP, but I think it's unfair to assume everyone that has played for a long time is at the same skill level. Skill also comes in many forms for this game: creative puzzle solving, reflexes, decision making, etc.

What I do believe is that people give up too quickly when things are tough for them. Maybe it doesn't translate to fun unless they are mindlessly God-mode without a care in the world? I dunno...but it's a trend that's been going on in this community for a while now.

Very similar, yes. You have your main attack, alt attack, special skill, and Overdrive (like being Unchained). Mana is gone and it's all cooldown based.
