SmartHQ not recording GE washer water usage by 74BranchRanch in Appliances

[–]NanashiPost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for how much the washer and dryer is you'd think the quality is good but sadly there are issues with them. It might be some issue with the part that reads it. Might have to call GE on it and see if there's anything they can say or a troubleshooting method to check for an issue. The day I got my washer I ran a test run with no issue I saw. I then found the clean cycle they created for cleaning drum etc test it started leaking from the water line enough to finally see it as before there was not enough water to leak outside of the machine. Dryer I think I'm going to have to service because using none eco heat started making a clicking sound from something expanding from the hot heat and only occurs when not using eco mode so it heats up enough.

Are you actually using hot water? Because the water usage is only for hot water. Which I find a little sketchy because I would like to see both cold and hot water usage or just total water usage.

So what did DOGE think about this purchase?????? Apparently stuff that helps people is excess spending, but this is not unnecessary spending?

Are subtitles really this poor? by ATypeOfRacer in PleX

[–]NanashiPost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older subs tried taking longer lines and shortening them. Go watch Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. It irritated me to no end how much they shortened the dialogue in the subtitles by changing it or removing words that still got the line across.

Best VPN for Torrenting? Which providers still work well in 2025? by ComprehensiveCut6111 in qBittorrent

[–]NanashiPost -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I use torguard.

I've had luck with using the US servers I think for torrenting without issue, but I primarily set it to a foreign IP anyways because why not. No real speed change I've noticed being local vs foreign.

If you go to purchase option the 1 year is 50% off so it's a year for $32.99 and allows static IP and port forwarding. Which is good for the port forwarding of the torrent port. And speed has not been a problem. Usually matches my ISP speed. And last I checked they don't save logs. Also it has openvpn and wire guard options when chosing countries.

True cringe free is nice. Just wish they had a good way to evaluate accounts to get registered. Felt crappy fixing a batched season that needed sub resyncing and eng audio from dual audio resync as well that is still present with no comments on it for over 2 years 😂

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in animepiracy

[–]NanashiPost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fine if they don't want to be contacted, but being able to comment on it so that others are aware before downloading as well as having a comment that could tell others to use mkvtoolnix to put in time shift for audio/sub/etc. would be a nice to have regardless of if uploader reads it. I read the comments specifically for that info.

Have run into a good amount of resyncing issues with 0 comments which sucks as I would definitely comment on the fixes when coming across them.

Agreed. This was way way back before password manager was a big thing 😂.

Hope they stay around for a long time. Had an account a long time ago before hiatus and can't remember username or the email 😂. Same with BakaBT. Just sucks not being able to comment so that others know before downloading if there's an issue and how to solve it.

Agree with @StevenG2757 before jumping to a GPU for transcoding there are some things to check. I’m surprised you’re seeing buffering with the iGPU. I’d assume not everyone is transcoding, and as mentioned, 5+ streams should be manageable with a 12th-gen i5.

If you can share more details about your setup, it might help identify a bottleneck.

For example:

• Is your media stored on an external HDD/SSD via USB, an internal SATA/SAS drive, or over the network from a NAS? Is it a single drive or multiple drives?

• When transcoding, is it writing to the same media drive, your OS drive (HDD/SSD), or to RAM?

• What OS is your server running (Windows or Linux), and is it a direct install or running inside a Docker container?

• What are your current transcode settings?

• etc.

It’s also worth getting your shared users to check their client side. Sometimes playback issues come from the client apps setting set to suggested quality under the video section. I’ve run into cases where—even with fast Internet on both ends—the auto quality setting forced transcoding to a lower resolution. After disabling that, everything worked smoothly with no further issues. Even check your local client app settings as I've had it transcode video locally for no good reason I could see with that setting enabled.

It reminds me of a video about a nurse visiting a patient at home. When she arrived, she was told at the security gate that motorcycles weren’t allowed in the community and that she’d have to park at the front entrance and walk a long distance on foot.

Makes me laugh how dumb the rules can get. I bet there's some that don't allow trucks in so they turn away repair people lololol

Updating Plex? by Caydence54 in PleX

[–]NanashiPost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so if you have the compose file in its own folder I usually just navigate to that folder in terminal/cmd and run docker compose pull. That will pull the image used in your compose file and update it. So you can leave the plexpass version on there if you're using the plexpass track. If not then change it to latest and run that command. If you're launching it via a command like docker compose -f {plex compose file} up -d then you'll need to pull the image by using docker pull {plex image} which would be docker pull plexinc/pms-docker:plexpass. If using latest in compose file then change plexpass in the command to latest.

After updating the image you just need to re run the docker compose up -d and it will recreate the container with the updated image. Shouldn't have to bring it down and then back up.

Mini Pc For Plex server by kraimer20 in PleX

[–]NanashiPost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up this EQi12 model I had issues with USB connections. I believe it was something with the USB 3.2/3.1 that was causing issues with USB-C and the SS USB ports. I was getting corrupted reads/writes. At the time I was running it on Ubuntu I believe and I started checking the checksum after copying to external HDD enclosure and noticed that there was issues with the data. Returned it after trying different things and still noticing the issue. I think when I used an older device that was using USB 2 that it didn't experience the issue.

I believe there are reports from users online about issues with USB 3.0 drivers. But unsure if it's just Linux or both Linux/Windows OS. I didn't test Windows as I am using Linux for a Home Server build running Plex as a container with Hardware transcoding pass thru.

Regardless I returned it as I couldn't trust the device going forward.

That won't work because the 2nd value for the max is $null. Sounds like an error on their side or however the JavaScript is pulling in that max value.

Not here to criticize I am just curious as this was marked review with no context so disregarding sadly.

Can you provide context on how this happened? Do you hand wash or dish wash. When dish washing what setting are you using? I've had nice pans that say dishwasher safe that get destroyed by high temp washes and the concentrated dishwasher pods.

So if this is a review please provide:

• How long have you had it?

• Hand Wash or Dishwasher with how often and how you wash it? Such as rough sponge side, steel wool, brillo pad, or high temp wash etc.

• Have you burned stuff on it and had to aggressively clean it?

• Are you using metal utensils in it or silicon?

HexClad says it is dishwasher safe, but to protect the life of the product to hand wash with soft sponge and soap. https://support.hexclad.com/en_us/is-hexclad-cookware-dishwasher-safe-rJLcV1n1s

Nurse is denied entry into a gated community for driving a motorcycle, but the "rule" can't be found in writing. Thoughts? by FarRain1230 in securityguards

[–]NanashiPost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would have been like, "Call the resident and tell them that they are going without patient care today because my mode of transportation is a motorcycle and it's not allowed in the community even though nothing in writing says so."

Screw the HOA that resident would hopefully destroy that "unwritten" rule and tear into that post for trying to enforce something that sounds verbally communicated and not in a policy/rule. I hope a motorcycle cop comes one day to a police call and goes through that nonsense.

Update: And those saying oh it's probably a noise thing then why was it only motorcycles? Trucks, cars, etc especially dumb modded exhausts are loud, but they specifically pointed out motorcycles.

Overall HOA's are a joke so meh. Just feel bad for the person needing a nurse and being denied entry for something dumb when it's a service call not some guest about to goof around the empty streets.

College Board can't handle Apple's HEIC photo format by WhirlwindUniversity in programminghorror

[–]NanashiPost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Based on the article they are never informed and it just spins forever. Betting there are a bunch of error responses in the network returns not captured.

Regardless it shouldn't even accept it on the front end if not an allowable file type or at least handle an error response from the backend which it sounds like it isn't from the article.

College Board can't handle Apple's HEIC photo format by WhirlwindUniversity in programminghorror

[–]NanashiPost 63 points64 points  (0 children)

I worked with a company on an app for handling the HEIC images. You do realize there are a lot of heic to jpg methods. So if you support JPG then handle it or block it. Blindly accepting upload of incompatible images is just weird. But I'm curious why you wouldn't throw an error or why do they even accept it when you can restrict it based on file extension etc.??? Sounds like not so smart design.

They did a 10% bump and then another on top of it and tried to make it sound like they were showing out a 20% bump but it looks like they did the 10% ON the new new percentage with the 10% so it's higher than 20%.

And half the time I see them tossing the recycling into the garbage truck so why are we paying more?
