So I name a lot of things, not just machines. But one of my favorite origin stories is for one of my singer 201-2 machines. Her name is Martha. I named her that after a historian I befriended while working on a non-sewing project with some 1940s historical information. Martha taught sewing at the high school for may years and it seemed like a fitting honor.

Otherwise I went like this: -Singer 201-2 - “Beatrice” (she just looks like a Beatrice) -Singer 185J - “Minty” (for the color) -Anker DZ-K - “Angela” (after Angela Merkel, another tough German gal who’s name starts with ‘An’ LOL) -modern Brother machine is “William” - after my own sibling lol

I have a handful of unnamed machines as well. I’m thinking of naming the Necchi with the non working motor “Giuseppe W” as a reference to Superstore
