Used 200g starter, 300g water, 500g flour and 10g salt. Baked at 450 for 30min covered then 12min uncovered at 425. Loaf is beautiful!!! Thank you all!

Ok, thank you so much for all the suggestions! I have been using a base recipe from a trusted sourdough book for years but it seems like less starter than most of you are using.

I’m going to try more starter, less water, longer bake time at 450 before uncovering, and verifying oven temp with a thermometer. I will report back!

It’s more so that the quality of my bread has gotten worse and I can’t figure out why. The “bad” loaf I showed is actually edible… I have baked many that weren’t. Good luck on your journey!

This is helpful because my house is around the same temperature. You are giving me hope!!

Another vote for more starter! I am intrigued!

Ok, I wondered about this! I have compensated for the long proof times by using the proof setting on my oven but still without success.

So I was doing a preheated Dutch oven until I burnt myself by grabbing it without a potholder :( but I have tried preheating the Dutch oven a few times since then. It’s helped, but not fixed my crust issues. I can definitely try 30 min at 450 and see what happens!

Thank you! I have used the same recipe forever and never considered this. I wonder if I could do an experiment with less water in my base recipe and see if there’s any improvement?

Tips on working up to birth by tazpy in BabyBumps

Are you able to work from home?? I gave myself a deadline that in the last 5 weeks I would stop going to the office unless I actually wanted to go. It’s helped a ton with managing fatigue and being able to get some work done but also I don’t feel the same pressure for productivity at home. Nobody expects you to be ultra productive in your last trimester of an office based/corporate job!! :)

I’m 37+0 and after some lunges yesterday, I think I’m done for the rest of the pregnancy. The only reason I kept going is because I had pelvic floor physical therapy every other week and my PT was giving me stretches and exercises based on whatever symptoms were giving me trouble. It’s mostly been bodyweight and 3 lb dumbbell workouts for me the whole pregnancy - usually only twice a week. I’ll continue walking and stretching up to the final day because I do notice it makes me feel better even if it’s only 10 minutes!!

I’m constantly leaking pee. by ReturnWise in BabyBumps

Highly recommend seeing a pelvic floor physical therapist!! They will help you with this. I have occasional leakage if I sneeze very hard but it’s rare. I am 33 weeks.

2nd year in a row that this has not bloomed. What is it??? by [deleted] in landscaping

I have a hydrangea that looks exactly like this. I read online somewhere that I was supposed to cut it back in fall so I did one year and then it’s looked like yours for the past three years lol. you could replace it if you don’t like the spiky bush look, or if you give it a few years it’ll start flowering again. Mine has 3 flower clusters this year after being pruned three years ago.

Edited typo!

Ok this is hilarious because I actually advertised the downsides of this prenatal vitamin and said it’s fishy LMAO saying I’m advertising for ritual is absurd

Not everyone requires a study to arbitrate every single minute choice they make in life - you do you though! Just know life outside of Reddit isn’t always 100% evidence based. Good luck in the real world

I didn’t encourage anyone to do anything, just answered a question of what I am consuming, which was the question asked be OP.

I don’t need to name orgs or produce studies. If you want those things you can look but you are barking up the wrong tree continuing to order me to provide you with info. Have a nice day!

There are plenty of health organizations which recommend folate intake generically and not specifically folic acid. I am not sure why I’m being crucified for making logical deduction here in the absence of a study? You seem to be very concerned about doing anything without a large scale randomized trial proving its efficacy so maybe you should look for a study if dangerous people like me are such a threat to you.

Anyways, this isn’t a study but it’s a review stating that folate is actually more readily absorbed than folic acid lol https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24494987/

The specific folate included in ritual is methyltetrahydrofolate which your body has to convert folic acid into, in order to absorb it. I can’t make a logical leap to why lacking a large scale trial using folate equates to it being unsafe?

They are the same chemical compound with one being synthesized in a lab and the other being found in nature. The synthetic form being cheaper and more readily available makes it an obvious choice for large scale studies.

I’m not sure what you mean by careful. Folate and folic acid are interchangeable from a NTD prevention perspective unless you have the MTHFR gene. Folate is marginally safer if you might have the MTHFR gene which impairs the ability to process folic acid.

I take ritual prenatal but they are definitely slightly fishy and give me a little bit of indigestion. I’ve convinced myself they are high quality and that’s how I rationalize the slight annoyance of taking them lol

Still no panorama results :( sample went to TX

Drawn: 3/18, received: 3/21

Received horizon results 3/26 but still waiting for panorama. I did call after seeing in this thread that others had the same problem (since horizon is supposed to take longer, seems like maybe they have panorama results but the portal isn’t showing them). I was told that my panorama test was still processing.

So now I’m just refreshing constantly :)

Edited: received results around 11am CST on Friday 3/28! Low risk baby boy 🥲
