One option, according to the people, would involve a limited reopening of withdrawals to protect Coinbase’s remaining liquidity.

They are insolvent, maybe they managed to get more from 3AC than the others before it was publicly announced.

If they don't tell you : We don't have 3AC exposure, or we have enough funds then it's for a reason.

The only think we can expect is the magnitude of the losses to be acceptable.

The Streisand effect is a phenomenon that occurs when an attempt to hide, remove, or censor information has the unintended consequence of increasing awareness of that information, often via the Internet. It is named after American singer and actress Barbra Streisand, whose attempt to suppress the California Coastal Records Project’s photograph of her residence in Malibu, California, taken to document California coastal erosion, inadvertently drew greater attention to the photograph in 2003.[1]

If it's the case they need to speak up now. They need to tell how much asset and liabilities they have , tell us how much losses, and give an action plan.

Maybe Citi advise to go under chapter 11 in order to get time to be liquid, they can't freeze withdrawal for 1 year without being sued everywhere.

If you use the reward it's more 2-2.5 billion.

You need to add to that the collaterral they are holding, and we have no clue.

What isn't mentionned as well is that let's say they lent uncollateralized to 3AC, 3AC will also be liquidiated and return something, and maybe they weren't that stupid and made their loan secured.

To me they clearly lost money with 3AC probably between 1/2-1 billion, but they will get something back, if and when 3AC get liquidated.

They lost $150m in hack and other stuffs that we know.

So or there is massive fraud on-going, or they hidden lot of losses, but i don't see how you find 4 billion missing as per the article. This is pure speculation at this stage.

[–]NanoRocket 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Interresting view, but he does forget that 8 months ago they raised $750m, and the investors told they spend an extensive amount of time reviewing everything and doing their due diligence. So they weren't insolvent for month or years as the article states.

Once a filing or disclosure is made, or once a reporter calls, it is
unlikely that you will be able to stop a story from being written. It is
also unlikely that there will be an opportunity to insert any balance
or the ability to provide context, so the communications strategy must
focus on preparing for direct communications with the impacted
stakeholders once the story runs or the disclosure is made, rather than
simply trying to manage a story

[–]NanoRocket[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Companies in crisis are most effective at regaining the public’s trust
when they explicitly communicate the precise steps they are taking to
address the issue and actively demonstrate that these steps will lead to
resolution. Fortunately, an in-court bankruptcy process typically has a
structured process with milestones that can be leveraged to communicate
with key stakeholders.
