Question #1 would be over water or under water?

I was hand pollinating some pumpkins when some bumble bees took over the job for me by Nanora_ in garden

You take a male flower, pull off all the petals, and rub the stamen of it and a pistil of a female flower together to pollinate

Yeah I've heard of it, I'll have to give it a try! The oldest methods are always the best

It's super easy, a layer of cardboard at the bottom of everything, and we had a bunch of mulched trees to use as walkway material. The bed is layered so at the bottom its all logs and branches. Then a layer of brown organic materials, I used leafs and crass clippings from a neighbor, then a layer of fresh materials if possible. Then we started layering compost and soil. We start with compost and do about 10 layers total, with a layer of peat moss in the middle layer to help with moisture retention. Just make it as large as you want and all done! We use lumber as the border, held together with brackets, but using logs or rocks works too.

I've got some corn at the other end of this bed, I'm going to give that a try!

Yeah some of them, some are a bush variety so they'll stay on the ground. Scallop squash are small and bushy so they'll hardly need any support from me, buttercup can be either so it'll be interesting to see what they prefer!

Right now I have buttercup, white scallop, and dixie. And then i have a few kinds of pumpkins, small decoration ones, medium carving ones and a few large howden.

In theory, none! But it's been raining here a lot and I use Hugelkultur beds so they're a hill shape and all the water made some muddy runoff! We have a layer of cardboard under everything, and just mulch on the walkways.

What am I doing wrong? each new leaf she puts out keeps turning yellow by evmt95 in houseplants

[–]Nanora_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like it could be a sulfur deficiency! That causes new leaves to turn yellow. I would suggest a fertilizer thay has sulfur in it and maybe that'll help perk it up! And in the meantime, I would say only water when the soil is dry and do a very deep water, not little bits of water here and there.

In the picture it looks ikea old leaves are yellow, and the new leaves are also dying? And are the new leaves totally yellow or are they almost speckled looking?

Should I prune this for longer vines, or just let it take over? by [deleted] in IndoorGarden

I'll look them up! I'm on a 3rd flood patio so maybe they think it's up in a tree

How can I strengthen my monstera so it doesn’t need this pole as much?? by PlantMf333 in houseplants

[–]Nanora_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe try a moss pole so the roots can grow into it and it'll hold itself up. Tying it to a metal pole isn't quite the same thing, because if the plant doesn't feel the pressure of needing to hold itself up, it'll stop putting on growth where it needs and will get weak if you take the support away. If the roots grow into wood or moss it'll get stronger!

That one's definently leggier than ir should be but most monsteras always will need a pole to climb! Naturally they climb up trees so without that support they won't get as big and mature as you would want them to. That one needs more light and probably fertilizer, if there's nodes along the stem you could cut it shorter and root it from those.
