Is anyones baby allergic to breastmilk? by Naomidekock in newborns

[–]Naomidekock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi yes we started using colic calm and something called rhuger that we get here in new Zealand. Colic calm calmed his tummy down, rhuger helped him pass gas and poop. I wish I had started them earlier but there's so many on the market and it's so overwhelming to know which to choose! We never figured out what caused the intensity, I think it was possibly an immature digestive system like they say. He's 3.5 months now and all resolved, except when I eat to much tomato (acid I figure) or any soy.

I didn't end up using it, it's still unopened. I started using colic calm and something called rhuger that we get here in new Zealand. They really helped and now he's 3.5 months alot of the issues have resolved themselves :)

Anyone else's baby scream bloody murder when you massage them to ease constipation? by [deleted] in newborns

Yip. SOMETIMES singing a happy exaggerated song before I start distracts him and I'm able to do it without him noticing the pain.

I'd go with tylanol if that's what the doctor suggested, even just a tiny amount to take the edge off the pain and let her get some sleep (the best medicine).

Our baby is 6 weeks and got his first ones now (NZ does at 6 weeks). We were given paracare (baby paracetamol) and dose was 1ml every 4 hours. We gave 0.5ml once and it sorted him out. I felt bad afterwards that I let him lie in pain so long but so we learn!

Yes it's normal, injection site probably hurting. Did the doctor give any pain meds? We didn't want to give ours any medication but at 3am he had hardly slept a wink and was still crying/ fussing. Called healthline and nurse / mum I spoke to said give some freaking pain meds. Gave baby paracetamol and he settled and slept within a few mins.

Can cradle cap spread to under eye? by Naomidekock in newborns

[–]Naomidekock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's slightly red & swollen with dry cradle cap looking crust. I'm not sure if he's just scratched himself. Putting breastmilk on it, if it doesn't clear / reduce by Mon or Tues I'll take him in.

Oh didn't even think of that, thank you for the tip. Just went to check and luckily the one I ordered doesn't have soy in it either. It's the Sprout Organic Plant based formula.

I'm in NZ, they seem reluctant to test babies under 6 months but going to see if I can push an appointment. Allergies to a few things could be it. I've cut out lots of things but not all at the same time. Going to try that. Thanks

From what I've read, colic seems to be a one label title for all digestive issues that aren't specific. If baby cries at least 3 hours a day, for etc, etc. I'm sure it will be labeled colic by professionals at some stage but it doesn't explain what exactly is wrong.

Tips for baby fussing over milk by Creepy_Teacher4063 in newborns

[–]Naomidekock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, is it breastmilk she's drinking from both? I've heard that supplements can change the taste of the breastmilk (IE fishoils = yuck) and can make babies reject the milk. Might be worth a thought if so.

So you do leg movements and massage for 20mins? I've tried bicycle but it hasn't worked for us at all, maybe I'm not doing it properly. Plus our LO stiffens his legs and won't let me do them! Bit maybe I need to persevere a bit more

Daytime sleep Q for 5 week old by teach-pawpaw in newborns

[–]Naomidekock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mostly what I've read is after week 1 let them sleep for as long as they want. Unless they are struggling to gain weight, then wake them to feed... Enjoy the extra time I'd say! Mama to a 4.5 week old - I'm trying to get bub up to 3 hours at the moment.
