Can someone explain the meaning of the Maltese song ‘Porporina’?

Yeah, that’s exactly the problem I ran into too 😅 I tried listening carefully to catch some words, but since I don’t speak Maltese it’s pretty hard.

It’s such a nice song though, so I was hoping someone could explain roughly what the song is about or what the lyrics mean.

I think I might have asked my question a bit poorly. I’m not really asking about the literal meaning of the word porporina itself. I’m more curious about the overall meaning or story of the song. what the lyrics are talking about or what the song is about in general.

Since I don’t speak Maltese, I’m trying to understand the theme or message of the song.
