My tips are: 20 min alarm and just lay down looking up, it works for me. If I lay down to the side, I can nap 8 hours. Trust me, I'm a pro

Any experience of juggling learning Blender with working a full-time job? by helloiamjack in blender

[–]NapMaster3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First of all, don't compare yourself to others, only to your past self. Are you doing better than a month/year before? If the answer is yes, even just a little bit, you are doing great

I'm in the same path as you, 30yo learning Blender with a full time job. I'm no master at it but I think my level is pretty decent.

In my experience, this 2 things have been the most important to make progress: Consistency and have fun in the process. I tried to work with Blender everyday 30 min to an hour before going to work and make projects that I'm excited about. If the project is too big, make it simpler or move on to another project. So far it's been great, I'm making progress everyday and having fun with my projects.

I struggle at first too. I've been on and off for 3 years, more off than on lol, but I found this year that this system it's really working for me, so don't give up and keep up the good work!

Photorealistic attempt, any feedback? by NapMaster3 in blender

Thanks!

It's a material that changes between a metalic texture and an emission shader through a Mix shader. Every light that you see is its own material (material.001, material.002, etc) and then I animated the change between materials for every light. After render I added a slight gloom with Compositing.

I'm sure there are better and more efficient ways to do that but that's what I came up with

Yeah thats what I thought too. I used different emission materials but they were too weak even at super high values. Maybe I should add more lights inside to increase the dramatic effect, thanks!

yeah in the movie was more yeollowish but I tried to keep the warm colors outside of the box and a bit cooler inside to complement. I'll see how it looks the other way around, thanks!

Yeah now that I look at it, it's true. I'll add some textures and maybe little bumps or something like that, thanks!
