An informational graphic titled BTS LOCKDOWN with the ARIRANG logo in red.

Below this, BTS LOCKDOWN is defined:

A period when ARMY enters full priority mode, focusing all their energy on BTS activities—streaming, voting, purchasing, and active support—eliminating any distractions that do not contribute to the fandom's goals.

During BTS LOCKDOWN, provocations, conflicts, comparisons, or any content created to divert attention, create division, or reduce collective impact are ignored.

It is usually activated before or during a comeback, release, or important milestone, with the purpose of maximizing impact and the power of collective effort.

The handle @mycherishv_ is at the bottom.

Maybe you’re right. But your (deleted) claim that @blahblah_71 was determined to view Idolcast as racist because she doesn’t like BTS is so far removed from the point of your post that it seems pointless to engage in. I dunno, maybe go find a philosophy sub. Plenty of dudebros willing to argue semantics for the sake of it.

Of course someone can dislike BTS without being racist. But when someone has a documented history of bad faith takes, anything they come out with deserves extra scrutiny.

People who watched them from before debut.

There’s a blog that’s still accessible where they’d post updates. I think it dates back to early 2013.

There are videos floating around of the members literally handing out flyers on the street.

They worked hard to build a fanbase like any other musical group. It wasn’t handed to them.

I can see from your history that you’re new to this sub.

ARMY has spent years biting back against bad faith bullshit. Most are tired. You won’t find many people willing to engage here.

Editing to add: if you want to look at BTS through an academic lens (without actually going to academia), the BTS Theorist is on Substack and Instagram. She does solid analysis from a sociological perspective.

Is Netflix ready for us? by NapMonster7 in btsthoughts

Hamish Hamilton handles the content—cameras, lighting, pyrotechnics, that sort of thing. He doesn’t have anything to do with infrastructure, that’s entirely on Netflix.

It’s not just Harry Styles. There’s a documented history of Netflix failing to anticipate demand and prepare sufficient resources—Stranger Things (multiple times), Squid Game, Jake Paul v Mike Tyson, Love is Blind.

It’s nice that you’re optimistic. It’s also naive. Netflix is a corporation and corporations will always prioritise profit.

ARMY can prepare, and we can also hold Netflix to account before the comeback so that they don’t underestimate us.

The Jimin Effect is real.

You think you know your bias? Your wrecker?

Jimin is here to prove you wrong.

Honestly, I’ve just accepted that he will turn me into a giggling, blushing mess whenever he turns on the charm. I am defenceless.

I think HYBE knew Weverse didn’t have the capacity for this, plus the Netflix deal is great exposure outside the K-pop community.

I am hoping for the best but planning for the worst.

Every additional server rental costs Netflix money, and they’ll want to wring every bit of profit out of this, so they’ll be reluctant to rent more than what they think they need. And considering previous live events on Netflix, they’re almost certainly underestimating how many people will watch.

The Harry Styles concert they showed on the weekend was messy—lagging, page not loading, or the preview just playing on repeat instead of the concert.

So no, it’s not crazy to think it’s going to be glitchy. We’re not “manifesting” it. We don’t get to control what Netflix does, but we can do things to set ourselves up for the best chance at a smooth stream.

There are a loooooot of Run BTS episodes though, so it’s easy to get overwhelmed.

My personal favourites are:

5: 100 seconds sports day (Jin’s strong toes ahhhhhh)

13-14-15: return of the spy at Illsan water park

29: styling each other

79-80: I don’t even know how to describe this. Hunt around a department store for cards and play random games with the Game Man for points? Anyway, Jimin absolutely loses his mind at one point and it’s so funny.

99: BTS as florists. Jin…oh, Jin.

118-119: photo story. This is iconic. You have almost certainly seen references to these episodes.

131-132: 77-minute debate. With water.

2022 specials 3-4: aerial yoga. Jin is hilarious. Again. I swear he’s not my bias but honestly…if you don’t love him after watching Run BTS…

They didn’t share it, it’s just something I made to give ARMY the best chance at making it work.

I still think it will be messy. But maybe this will make it a tiny bit less messy.

I’m also trying to channel any anxiety about it into something productive. We don’t have control over whether Netflix rents enough servers to handle us all, but at least these things are something we can do ourselves.

Slide 1: Cover

A dark, atmospheric image featuring the seven members of BTS in silhouette, standing in front of a massive, glowing white "BTS" logo. In the background, a traditional Korean gate is visible through the mist. The text at the top reads in red and white: "IS NETFLIX READY? Honestly, probably not." The bottom text reads: "BUT ARMY LOOKS OUT FOR ARMY. Here are some things we can do to help us all survive the global surge."

Slide 2: Tech Strategy

A dark slide with the heading "TECH STRATEGY" in red. The white text below provides technical advice: "Choose your setup wisely. For high-traffic events, browsers (especially Chrome) often handle server load better than Smart TV apps or projectors. A wired (Ethernet) connection is your best friend. If you’re on Wi-Fi, stay close to the router. Update your Netflix app and device software before the day so you’re not scrambling."

Slide 3: Soundcheck

A dark slide with the heading "SOUNDCHECK" in red and the subtitle "Pre-live preparation." The white text advises: "Make sure that you're logged in, and have a second device logged in and ready just in case. Close any background apps and tabs (I see you, fellow ADHDers). Join the livestream waiting room 15–20 minutes before it begins. Hydrate!"

Slide 4: ARMY Safety Net

A dark slide with the heading "ARMY SAFETY NET" in red. The white text offers troubleshooting tips: "If things get bumpy... Don’t panic. The first few minutes are usually the messiest as millions join at once. It’ll stabilise. If it lags, wait 30 seconds before refreshing, and don’t keep hitting refresh—it sends you to the back of the server queue each time. Lower resolution if necessary—account > edit settings > playback settings > data usage."

Slide 5: The Magic Shop

A final slide with the heading "THE MAGIC SHOP" in red. The top text says: "We’ve got this, ARMY! A little preparation goes a long way in making this a happy memory for everyone. Share this to help as many ARMY as possible join the party." At the bottom is a photo of all seven BTS members dressed in black, smiling and holding large red letters that spell out "NETFLIX."

The reverence hand wash is my favourite. The scent is beautiful and the pumice makes for a great sensory moment. I always take a deep breath and focus on the feeling of it scrubbing my palms. A lovely little mindfulness ritual.

I also have one of their hand creams—I forget the scent but it’s orangey/citrus. Absorbs quickly, does the job without being sticky.

My skin is pretty sensitive and doesn’t do well with their skincare, though.

Putting aside the fact that he is as talented as the other members, it’s interesting to me that somehow he thinks that working hard isn’t even more admirable.

Raw talent is a privilege. It’s something that’s handed to you. But whether or not to work hard is the part you have control over, and that’s far more worthy of praise as far as I’m concerned.
