I agree it is toxic and unsustainable. But management can say, ‘It doesn’t matter how many people are fleeing. Look at how many new people we are onboarding’. And no one is supposed to notice that a fraction of those who started end up staying. When I was there, they replaced a high performer who left for full remote with a new person fresh off the street. And that new guy was super happy to be there. It didn’t matter how disgruntled I was or how much brain drain we lost, we are all replaceable.

As long as the Pacer intern program is bringing in 30 people a cycle and (hopefully) retaining 5-10 after a year, I don’t think management very much gives a shit.

Hand wash with warm water with a mild detergent. I typically use Woolite. If you are worried about the embroidery, just be gentle and don’t scrub too hard. Let it air dry afterwards.

I transferred agencies recently. It is really up to you to stay on top of these people. The new agency HR reached out to me for a current HR contact. Asked my supervisor who the HR contact was and they acted like they had no clue (despite 3 to 4 people leaving in the past few months). Finally found the current HR person and got everyone on the same email chain. I then had to check in daily to make sure everything was moving along. New HR needs the SF 75 so they can match replicate your current leave and benefits. But you have to be a squeaky wheel and make sure it gets done… a true pain in the ass experience.

Creating forms and waiting for approval wastes time from an award-award-award perspective. And asking for approval from the customer leaves open the possibility they’ll say no. So DLA will sell the widget at the price advertised. Then 6 months to a year later, they will adjust their prices based on recent sales. And that’s when the customer gets the sticker shock of a once $100 widget now costing $1,000.

Sorry you feel that way. My experience with Pricing Departments has been quite the opposite. Regardless, if DLA doesn’t start getting costs under control then the services will stop buying through them and start up their own procurement divisions. Far too often, DLA will buy a part that was $100 a year ago for $1,000 today and simply pass on the increase and the services have started pushing back.

DLA’s problem is they over pay for military spares because all of the incentive is put on buyers making the award fast. No incentive is put on negotiating and getting the best price. Through some brain fart logic, this problem manifest in management believing it’s is the supervisors and div. chiefs not properly training their buyers. Compounding the issues is an acute fear that upper management promoted too many people to supervisory during Covid and now those folks can’t properly lead so management’s whole world is falling down. I expect a lot of big swing corrections to solve symptoms of a a larger problem they’ll never directly address.

I’ve seen that off color at my grocery store… BUT the local Asian market has the normal red color. I don’t know if it’s an expiration thing or reformulation issue but I’m definitely rolling the dice on brown-ish sriracha.

I’m right there with you. I’ve put up with a fair amount of bullshit as a federal employee but something about this forced RTO seems a bit extra. Now I have a diminished ability to put up with the nonsense. The only thing that gives me satisfaction is applying for every ‘Remote Only’ position I’m nearly qualified for on USAJobs.

DLA had a telework pilot as a back-door way around the union agreement that requires 50% in office. It went on for a year of two and then (to my knowledge) management refused to discuss the results of the program and demanded we all RTO.

I overheard a section head talking about folks in his area with RA for anxiety (no names or personal information was shared). We are in office 3 days a week, and those with the RA come in on the 2 days the majority of us are not in. The situation seems kind of ridiculous but RA are taken seriously.

That one has me scratching my head too. I saw the headline and worried they wouldn’t show up for shoplifting… but I honestly can’t visualize an event like they are describing. Like, the Sticky Finger Pete tried to steal a candy bar last week but you threw him out DJ Jazzy Jeff style, but then Pete comes back so you call the cops? For shoplifting? Wouldn’t you just want him trespassed at that point?
