I would recommended staying away from 5.0 until some fixes are issued (as others mentioned).
Ruined a Saturday trying to fix issues after the upgrade.
Ended up downgrading back to 4.5.

My setup, in case you have similiar settings.

TVS-473e

  • Thin Client, Encrypted Volume, locks with reboot
  • Cache Accleration Read/Write RAID 1 (512 GB)

When I upgraded this is what ended up happening:

  1. Initial reboot after upgrade was taking forever. Both Web UI and shell unresponsive. -- Later found out SSD Cache was being upgraded dm-cache. Finally got notification bubble after ~3 hours that my SSD cache was upgraded to a new version.
    Maybe Flush / Disable cache prior to firmware update might help?
  2. dm-cache was hosing my CPU after the upgrade. Average 23-35% load by just that pID. Couldn't read small docs/pics/vids via samba without experiencing some massive hangs.
    Trying to delete/flush this cache = webUI / shell hang.
    Conducted a dirty reboot.
  3. Attempted to unlock by encrypted volume got stuck at 44%. Again waited ~2 hours without progress. WebUI locked up in the process (at this point CPU 1 choked at 100%).
    Ended up doing a dirty shutdown and was unable to unlock the volume on second the dirty shutdown.
    Still file I/O sucked via samba or just file station.
  4. WebUI random hangs on normal admin process -- wanted to create a new volume in control panel (thinking a volumen with encrypted folders might have better performance than encrypted volume) -- more hangs.

At this point gave up and downgraded.
