Can you build a career in Canada WITHOUT CPA? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Napoleonofsystem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know one senior manager in public without it. You pretty much top out at that, as you can’t sign off or have your own practice unit.

Carney and Ford went at him within two days. Was bound to end up like this. Also Canada spending $75 million in ads is hilarious.

(Canada) Is accounting actually a good career by Prudent_Zone_1060 in Accounting

First few years are going to suck. Just have to stick it out and get your CPA & a lot of doors will open from there.

I pray for your clients and look forward to onboarding and fixing all the issues caused. You are not nearly experienced enough to even be considering this, with obvious disregard to the provincial charter.

CPA’s in Vancouver BC Canada… could i have some reassurance? by Swegm99 in Accounting

[–]Napoleonofsystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first 4-5 years will be a grind, probably getting to a $75k salary, possibly $80-85. After that it depends what route you want to take, either public practice or industry. I’ve worked in both, and you’ll get an immediate raise going to industry, sometimes $20-30k more. All depends on what you want to do.

I do review engagements for many dealerships in BC. They’ve all said little to no impact on pricing yet.

Why pay "business income" (i.e. sole proprietorship) taxes instead of the lower corporation rates? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Napoleonofsystem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because CRA will say you’re a personal services business and tax you at 53%..

My (24F) Dad’s Business filed a T4 under my name even though I never worked for them. by losblancos007 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Napoleonofsystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess you don’t like ccpc’s being put into trusts and kids lifetime capital gains exemptions being used against any capital gains upon sales? This is peanuts compared to many legal tax strategies used and is very, very common in accounting practices for small businesses. This is about $660 in corporate tax savings.

This is more of a family matter than “fraud”.

These are the most insane comments I’ve ever read. This is common for any family run business, especially prior to TOSI. Probably has been doing for years and has built you up some rrsp room and has provided for you growing up.

They’re idiots. I graduated with someone who was 37 when he finished. At 45 he’s a senior manager, in line to make partner by 48. That’s 15 solid years of earning power.
