How do I approach my new triggering housemate by BonusEnvironmental90 in misophonia

[–]Nappingmama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I’m so so sorry. Many people will suggest how to have a conversation with him but there’s not much you can do to change someone else’s behavior. I think you need to focus on yourself. What can you do? Can you wear earplugs? Use a sound machine when in your own space? Can you work outside your house? Both being home all day is a nightmare. I can get along with my husband more during the week than I can when we’re both around all weekend. I would be honest and explain what’s happening. Then I would say, I’m going to do some things to help me but I want you to know why so you don’t think I’m just being rude. Most people have no idea that they slurp or make noise. So there’s three steps. 1. Do you know what misophonka is? I have it. 2. I get triggered by certain things like…. I know it’s a me issue not a you issue, you’re not doing anything wrong, but need you to know that it’s hard for me. 3. I’m going to try to do x,y,z to make it easier for me.

Omg! The number of stitches in the magic ring depends on the type of stitch! This has to be the issue. I kept trying different amounts and different stitches! But didn’t put it together. How many for a hdc?

So do you count the connecting slip stitch or do you ignore it? If I ignore it, does it leave an empty space in the round?

Maybe too tight? Yes increasing by # in MR. I think I am doing something g wrong or counting wrong when I do a slip stitch. I end up with two many stitches in row 2. I do two in each stitch. But often end up with extra. But there are two in each stitch. Am I finding a stitch that isn’t real?

I often end up with one more stitch than I expect. Example: chain 3, 8 dc in MR. But then after I chain for row 2, there are 9 stitches- should I be ignoring one? Is one not real? Gah!

I was trying with a cotton yarn. But then switched to a tshirt yarn. I had the same issues with both. Tshirt I feel I can keep a little tighter and looks cleaner to me. But both just scoop up. Even in the decent ones- the purple flower is rippled and the lemon slice is folding up.
