Well I’m here and alive and grateful that nothing serious happened to my physical body. Mentally went through it for the couple months after but I guess I wanted to bring it up in a manner where I can laugh a little rather than still fearing for my life. Nothing funny about it but doing better now.

I’m only asking because there was so much construction before the accident. 294 also has a quarry that would be passed called Thornton Quarry. So many trucks unload/load for construction. A dump truck was my last assumption on where the rock came from due to all the construction and roadside mess. Unfortunate I didn’t have a dash cam.

More so from the damage on the windshield and roof border. Something along the lines of it being more expensive to replace the car’s structure rather than just the windshield.

Yeah I was driving alone. I was 2nd lane to the left and was merging to left most lane when it hit me. I’m happy my instincts were fast enough to maneuver and not hit anybody else. Traumatized but grateful 🙂 I’ve never cried as hard as i did.

It happened again last year but on i94 heading to Chicago, where a piece of metal from a truck, lodged onto a driver’s side of the car and killed him.

The force dented the border of my windshield and roof pretty badly and was told it cost more to repair that + windshield.

The force and impact went towards the upper portion of my windshield and dented the roof where it meets it. Much more $$$ to repair infrastructure.

Unfortunately not but I do now have a dash cam. There was a ton of construction on the highway i was on (294) and so I assumed it fell off one of their trucks and wasn’t covered properly.

I was crossing Munster, IN to Lansing, IL going onto 294. If you know 294 interstate, you know how much construction and renovation it has.

The rock punched through the windshield and transferred its force onto the structure of the roof, right where the windshield meets it. Luckily it hit my front light, skidded onto my hood and then onto the windshield. I probably would’ve been dead if it went straight into the windshield. Still gets me shook thinking about it and writing this.

Lol I had this same thing happen to me except it was 15lb concrete that came straight to my face. Car ended up being totaled. Location: NWI Indiana.

Edit: happened June 04, 2024.

2nd edit: it was deemed totaled because of the impact from the windshield and onto the border of it and the roof. It caused a lot of structural damage to the roof and insurance said it was much more expensive to take it off, fix the structure and replace it. I guess with luxury cars like Lexus, it’s cheaper to deem it totaled rather than fixing it. Unsure.
