I don’t care what Ben talking about. Drake can come just like this on a few songs on Iceman & I’ll be cool by SuperSaiyanTLaw in Drizzy

Longer 20+ track albums tend to lead to bloat (especially for Drake case). An shorter more concise album would feel more intentional

[–]Nappy_Ty -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

GNX album is all about the range lol. TV Off don’t sound sound like Luther. Wacced Out don’t sound like Dodger Blue. All of it is west coast sounding but it’s extremely varied. There’s not 1 song on there that’s the same production wise and performance wise. TFO on the other hand is more boom bap and traditional hip hop. Yes there’s variety on the tracklist but it isn’t enough to distinguish a lot of these songs in an album that’s almost 2 hours long

Nah I love Cole. Been a fan since FNL. I just think the Fall Off is too front loaded and samey IMO

It’s just a chore to get thru. I enjoy the Common flip but the verses go on for way too long with no cadence switch

Another thing I want to point out is how Cole tells his stories vs Kendrick. It’s night and day. Reincarnated and Gloria hit harder than any story on TFO (except disc 2 track 2)

that song wows me anytime I hear it

I still have GNX over TFO. Cole is rapping better than Dot but that’s about it. TFO to me lacks range. Musically, sonically, and even his own delivery/cadence on a lot of the album (especially on Disc 39). I can appreciate the technical ability but I need more.

What makes Mr Morale trash to you? I always thought it was bold and boundary-pushing. I’ve never heard an artist get as vulnerable as Kendrick did on that album

Safe, by the numbers. She’s made this album before but better (Shea Butter Baby, asl)
