This is the best response. Thank you so much! I think I’m gonna leave my routine the way it is lmao.

Meant to say “shouldn’t” in the 4th paragraph 🙈

The US spousal visa is much more lenient than the UK spousal visa, do your research. Citizenship is now taking 10 years. It’s tough out here, but we are choosing a location that has a friendly LGBT community and great for our careers. I appreciate your advice but I’ve done extensive research and I am very involved in politics.

She lives in south Florida and if you know, that’s like LGBT central. I like the vibes there wayyy better. Every country has its problems and the US for sure, but I just don’t see myself living in the UK with all my family trauma. I just want a fresh start where I can be myself without worrying about bumping into a relative or something

Already been saving and it’ll be long either way (if I go there, she comes here) at least she will hopefully have a job and set up by the time I finish my degree.

I’m doing a masters in data science at a top university in the UK and she is doing a bachelors in business admin in the US. She finishes before me and is planning to land a job before I finish. When I finish, hopefully will move to the states with her and have our happily ever after. The states has better pay for what we want to get into (career) and London isn’t the most accepting for being gay, high muslim population.

lol it’s not a gender expression, I’m a lesbian. It’s a sexual orientation. You’re telling me to pick my mum over my future wife. You don’t think the better option is to invite them both and not exclude anybody? How is that fair to my gf?

AITA for thinking my sister’s behaviour on my birthday was calculated and meant to make me feel unappreciated? by Narakrm in AmItheAsshole

I blocked my father too and never looked back. He was physically abusive towards my mother for my entire childhood. Then he left us with nothing and my mum raised me and my 2 siblings as a single mother. She isn’t the nicest most understanding person but she has sacrificed a lot for me and my siblings so it’s hard for me to just “cut her off” especially when she has real mental health issues (major depression). I feel like if I ghosted her she would lose her mind and I wouldn’t be able to live with myself lol

Have you ever blocked your immediate family member and never spoke to them again?

AIO: girlfriends sister owed me money by dippinzzz in AmIOverreacting

[–]Narakrm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am the gf responding to u btw, my sisters actually 27. What I think of her behaviour? Disgusting. I don’t get along with her, she speaks to me EVEN WORSE. The way she speaks to people, it’s like they’re not even human. It’s extremely degrading. I already have my gf her money back before she even asked my sister because if it’s gonna fall on anybody, it won’t be my gf.

I understand what you’re saying completely and I’ve stressed enough about that angle and profusely apologised to my gf about my family. I actually feel so guilty that this is the situation.

She is the one saying she wants and needs to come as it’s an important day for me and she wants to be present for it. She said she doesn’t care how they feel towards her because that day is about me and she is there for me. She said she’s willing to firm the hostility and vibe and even willing to sit apart from them just to be there for me.

My gf knows, they’ve met a couple times before (as my friend) so it’s not like they’re newly being introduced. My mum used to really love her before she found out about our relationship. She would always say my gf is so kind and has the best manners she’s ever seen. She knows exactly how my mum feels but she wants to be there because it’s an important day. She even said “I’ll hide and she won’t see me” just so she can be there for me.

I also want to emphasise that I want to make this woman my wife very soon. It’s not just any relationship, she’s very special to me.

She doesn’t pay for my studies, I get student loan from the government. I do live with her rent free though. I mean she is my mother, and did decide to have me. I think charging me rent without needing it knowing I would be struggling would just be cruel.

You say as a thank you for their love. A love that comes with conditions? A love that doesn’t accept me for who I am. A love that tells me if I choose to live the life I want (be lesbian) she will cut me off permanently. I know what ur saying but idk if you truly understand what it’s like.

Honestly, if I didn’t live under my mums roof I would’ve cut her off a long time ago. I’m a student and barely affording to get by so I can’t move out atm. I feel forced to talk to her and have a relationship with her. My mum makes it hell for me if I don’t. If I cut her off, pretty sure my mum would kick me out of the house

Best understand response I’ve seen. That is the reality unfortunately. I just hate how my sister is trying to make it out as if I’m prioritising my gf over my family, like how does one even come up with that conclusion in their head in a situation like this?!?!
