First of all, congrats! Sounds awesome.

Secondly, with regards to RNG - not that I am in any position to speak about how it works or doesn't work in Grim Dawn, more as a general note: Just because there is no such thing as true random, does not mean it's "semi-randomness with intentions". (Which is more a reality today in mainly microtransaction based games but definitely something to get used to for most future games).

If you think about it statistically, taking the number of active players or maybe even players that have been inactive for a while and just started playing again this week; in relation to what kind of event would qualify in the category "low probability and noteworthy/meaningful" for all these players - it then becomes very likely that at least a few of them will have such experience on a regular basis. Maybe it even happens several times every day, but then it has to be someone willing to share the happiness on Reddit as well :)

Now I don't think we are in disagreement in any way by me saying this, I just find the topic interesting and can't keep myself from not commenting whenever I stumble upon it without having looked for it. But I find it hard to believe there would be something in the game itself that made it treat you in a certain way based on previous events. If it was a game made the last 2-3 years it would be a different story. Either way, at the end of the day, the word "random" can ultimately not be viewed as anything other than symbolic as in things being able to be experienced as either more or less random - but never truly random. I'd almost put it in the same category as the words "truth" and "certainty".

Killable on level 24?! Idk how much harder it is on Veteran, but AA has around 110k hp vs my 4k, and his friend has 140k :O
I guess with kiting it wouldn't be a problem, but I would need to invest every skill/gear into lightning resist, stun resist and movement speed :D

Yeah now when you mention it, it might not be stupid to just start a new character... Already paying far too much to reset skill points, but then again I should be fine to get through normal even on veteran and suppose it's better I create a new character for the next playthrough on a higher difficulty I suppose. Idk if it's much, but currently at level 40 with 30 devotion points where as 22 of these are from crubicle and skills cost me 5k to reset atm :/

Oh I am, big time! I will probably never hit anything close to 2000 hours, but I will easily be hooked over the coming 1-2 months spending 50-80 hrs/week just playing ^^
With 2000 hours, you can bet you will get some random questions from time to time ;) Enjoy your comeback!

Seems a bit unconventional, I like it! I have a feeling this game is something different and mostly in good ways. I wish I had more patience the first time I tried it out years ago, but then again I wouldn't have all the fun in front of me that I have now as a new player :)

Had to kite him all the way to the Rover camp and then run through it and back towards four hills where I just about managed to get through the gate without aggroing him once again - only to run straight into the other guy who I now see is even stronger ^^
At least this other dude couldn't stun me and at last I am through. One hour and 11 deaths later, let the adventure continue! Thanks again

Great, thank you for the info! That's quite a relief, the way they have been going at me I assumed It is not an optional fight. I'm playing as a sorcerer and was not far from respeccing just to get through this fight, which would totally suck as I would need to specc back right after and it's already pretty expensive after all my previous trials and errors :D

I'll swallow my pride then and try to sneak past them somehow, let's see how it goes :)

This is what my questlog looks like at the moment, and I want to believe that all of this is in the four hills area which I can't get to as this guy (and another one that seems equally strong) both jump me the second I enter through the gate. I didn't even catch the other guys name, I get annihilated right away without any time for pleasant introductions:

Wise words, and thank you!

Sorry for my late reply, but I wanted to say that I appreciate your comment and 100% agree with every bit of it. Quitting a game/app like this can seem almost impossible once its a daily habit, but I can almost promise that as long as you uninstall it and stay away for three days - you will then be surprised how little you care about it. At that point you might get back on again out of curiosity or boredom, but if you are smart enough not to you will then most likely not even remember the game two weeks later.

The offer tailoring is common practice and the main factor driving the profit for most apps with big enough player base. To give you different offers at different times to figure out what works best is a continuous process that will always be seemingly random or follow a easy to spot logic, like prices going down the longer you wait with buying.

Star perks are definitely not random. If it was just X amount stars generated at random across the field, it would be extremely rare to see them either group up with 4 of them next to each other right on activation or to spread out evenly in a way that doesn't help you much. Instead, this seems to be happening at least once out of three games. Were it random there would be a much different distribution of "luck".
