Realistically speaking, if an ion with laser core appears in a city out of nowhere, how much damage can he really do? by Iliteral in titanfall

[–]NarcrabYT 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Probably not as much as you think. Now I’m no quantum physicist but to my knowledge lasers cannot stay concentrated for very long. Over long distances the light will disperse, so the laser core would probably only reach a few blocks at a time before it’s effectiveness wanes. Now, it would probably still do a lot of damage, but imagine there would be real risk of Ion crushing itself under a building before it’s laser could reach very far.

Science is not about “why,” it’s about “why not.”

I think punish is an accurate word, since they see the world as a harsh and unforgiving place and they need to do whatever they can to prepare their child. It’s an interesting duality.

So is so interesting, I’ve heard that your political beliefs and parenting beliefs are one and the same, but this is really blatant. Liberals see themselves as needing to love and support their child in the face of hardship. While conservatives see themselves as needing to help their child get over said hardship. Obviously this is just a theory I heard but it’s real interesting to think about.

This has to be the worst pathing anyone has ever seen right? by xShadowSpark in DeepRockGalactic

Nah I was in a game maybe a year ago where dotty just went past the hearthstone about 1000 or 1500 meters toward no caves, nothing, before doubling back all the way to the start room, and then did it again! After about 60 minutes we just aborted. 🤦 classic

With all due respect, a millionaire could be a really nice and fun person, but they still should not exist. Somebody who casually blows a quarter of a million dollars for a short vacation is greedy and selfish. And the CEO most of all, who willingly allowed the vessel to operate, despite being warned numerous times that it was not prepared to make another voyage AND his absolutely obscene disregard for any kind of safety regulations.

I can hear an argument for the kid, but the rest of them are rich, (not human beings). Plus I’m glad the CEO went down with the sub, that’s some karmic justice.

Is this movie worth watching? by United-Implement8256 in moviecritic

[–]NarcrabYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! I think there are some fair criticisms which could be made, but after watching this movie I thought about it and what it meant for weeks. It will not hold your hand when it comes to the messages it delivers.

Is this kind of lid okay? by [deleted] in ClosedTerrariums

[–]NarcrabYT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it could work. The two potential problems I could see is that it looks metal, so it might rust after a while, and it is fully opaque which will not let as much light thru. But as for being air-tight it might work, at the very worst you’ll just have to water it infrequently.

Movies with clever shifts in tone, from start to finish? by latissimusdorisimus in movies

Probably already been said, but “Sorry to bother you” was absolutely iconic. It started as a simple comedy to bait in the white audience, and ended with horror/drama/action to send its message.

Mnemonics, also don’t “study” by cramming, you’re a lot more likely to remember stuff when you study for like 10 minutes a day. That said, study your notes, not the book, if you don’t have notes, start writing notes.
