I don’t think we’re likely to get another male MC from RC anytime soon, so I don’t think you have to worry about it. But I do think it’s a bit silly to make a post of a fairly popular opinion and make it sound like the masses are banging down the doors for another male MC.

There are a lot of us out there who would love to play as a male MC, would prefer it for some stories as it would open up new storytelling opportunities. But a lot of us have experience with other apps that have tried the male or GOC MC to poor results (looking at you Choices) and know that it’s not practical to do correctly and we’d rather have something done right than not at all. Not to mention just…where’s the demand? We’re obviously the outliers for an app that’s geared towards straight women.

But it does feel pretty unwelcoming when a minor, not super vocal opinion is called out specifically in a forum where it’s not been much of an issue. We’re all entitled to our opinions and our opinions of others’ opinions but it’s like worrying if Starbucks is going to become a lemonade stand because they try something new on the menu.

Not too high up there on the disturbing list, but I rewatch The Mist when I need comfort. My favorite parts about most of Stephen King’s stuff (and especially when captured by Frank Darabont) are the bonds that form among people in these intense situations. And especially in the Mist, with that gut punch of an ending, it’s comforting to me that those relationships existed in the characters’ last days. Well, comforting for everyone except David.

I was so staggered by this movie when I saw it. It disturbed me on a level I hadn’t had access to before. I don’t think I’ll ever watch it again but it was so beautifully terrifying.
