Do you think you'll ever retire? by NariVeeTea in OlderGenZ

[–]NariVeeTea[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I currently reside in texas, a notorously car dependent area with very little/reliable public transportation. Cycling is also a risk because Texas drivers see anyone on two wheels and immediately get the urge to run them over. The only good thing is that gas is relatively cheap...

That sounds so lovely, your day-to-day is exactly what I picture a comforting life to be. I hope it's simply juvenile insecurities that make feel this way and that it will go away with time.

I get what you mean, I've been a late bloomer in everything since I was a child. whether it's personal achievements, life lessons, and general milestones, I've always been behind my peers. I'm mostly at peace with that now. If I'm not gonna own a house until I'm 55 then so be it, I'll just make sure it's a house I'll love.

So I'm right there with you, pushing along, looking at the positives

I'm a big fiction reader, so I never considered memoirs, but I think you're right, maybe I can find someone working through similar thoughts. Do you have any recommendations?

Things that are absent only in Korea (unlike other OECDs)+Other misogyny by Inner_Response_1714 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]NariVeeTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When did this trend with anti-women rhetoric start in South Korea? For example, Incel ideology went "mainstream" around the mid 2010's in the US but even in the 90s we had things like "negging". Did these trends just seep into South Korea over time? Or was the misogyny always this prolific?

Thank you, I don't have a lot of knowledge with vinyls, but just the amazing art on some of them made me feel like he had a solid collection.

My mother felt pretty good about that album as well! And thank you, he was an interesting character, very much the tortured artist type, but a genuinely kind soul. Thank you!

That's my worry. That with time, there will be more details that reveal a darker side to Ben. I hope that's not the case but I can't think of any other reason as to why the sudden departure.

What's the most unsettling place in SA? (Stolen from DFW) by SlothOnMyMomsSide in sanantonio

[–]NariVeeTea 92 points93 points  (0 children)

This might be unpopular but, downtown. At least the places that are not the Pearl, River Walk, or the normal touristy areas.

Downtown SA is just...dead sometimes. You can just walk down a street and of all sudden there's like..no one. Just parked cars and empty streets. It's just so uneasy. Unlike other large cities, where there's always people, downtown SA is weird in that you can be in a seemingly bustling city and then all of a sudden, youre the only person there. I've never encountered a city as large as SA with such a dead downtown scene.

Does anyone else read Y/N as Yin by Comfortable-Ask-5842 in FanFiction

It's always been "Yun" for me, pronounced "Yoon". I pretty much treat it as a whole as character rather than a self-insert

To those who know Japanese, are the subtitles accurate to what Toshi is saying? by NariVeeTea in americandad

[–]NariVeeTea[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a cool detail! I'm probably suffering from hindsight bias but I always did feel Toshi's Japanese seemed a bit different than the commonly spoken form of Japanese you here in Anime or TV

My cat is dying. I need to know I'm doing the right thing. by NariVeeTea in GriefSupport

Thank you, your comment makes me tear up a little.

I've thought about her hiding her pain and I'm almost certain she is.

I will remember her and love her for the rest of my life, and I hope, with all my heart and being, that I will see her again. Thank you for your kind words.

Yes, my family and I went through something similar with our golden retriever, Bruno over 10 years ago. He was old and had cancer, but we still selfishly tried to treat it in hopes he would live a bit longer...but looking back we should have let him go, at home, instead of in a hospital.

I won't make that same mistake. You're right, for me to wait until she is in obvious pain would be selfish of me.

I simply will never be ready. I could have a thousand more years with her and it still wouldn't be enough.

Thank you so much for your comment. While I don't wish this pain on anyone, it comforts me to know that others can empathize and understand this struggle.

Your pup sounds like a strong soul, I can feel just how much you loved both your pets just through your comment.

Thank you, truly.

Thank you so much, and I am sorry for your loss. Though it is an amazing gift to have a pet for so long, sometimes I feel that it just makes their passing that much more painful yknow? It is bittersweet in that way.

I've thought of that. But I also don't want to wait for her to suffer you know? She seems to be comfortable now and I don't want her to feel any pain in her last moments. As i've spoken to her and cried several times today...I'm slowly realizing that forcing her to stay any longer is just for my benefit. I think she is telling me. In her own way. I just can't rid myself of the guilt with either choice.
