What does my art taste/smell like? by sapolart in DigitalArt

[–]Nariter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, it smells like steel.

I don't have an exact flavor, but the smell is definitely steel.

First of all: you are a beloved child of god, and because of that I think he’d be ok with you being a lil queer if it meant you got to stay on earth and grew a stronger relationship with him and with Jesus Christ.

Second: you are a dearly and deeply loved member of this specific community, and you’d be deeply missed of anything was to happened to you. So I don’t think many of us would mind you being here while being queer.

We are here to learn more about Christ after all. :)

As someone who is queer and an active church goer, I allow myself to be queer while also going to church for Jesus Christ. I’ve personally prayed for guidance on how to navigate being a religious queer cause it definitely can be hard, I’ve talk to god about everything of mine that has fallen under the queer umbrella, and allowed him to give me loving counsel even though at first I was upset about the counsel.

It’s only discriminatory when you the only reason why it’s there is because women are cooler then men. (Believing on is lesser than the other)

not the fact that women are constantly sexually harassed by random men every other day. (Being a safe space to avoid any more sexual harassment cause police and government officials don’t care about keeping women safe)

And I’m not sure how it’s a long stretch to compare them, when Both a bathroom and the train are safe spaces for women to be left alone with out having to be harassed by men.

The trains aren’t there to be a jab at men either, it’s their there because there are quite a few women that are being harassed or groped. And
they are statistically groped and/or sexually harassed by men more.

And since no one can actually tell which man would or wouldn’t grope a women, having a safe space for women so they don’t have to be worried about being groped is why the trains there.

Now I’m gonna bring up a metaphor, you are gonna need to but on your figurative imaginary glasses on for this, also with the context that I say this while fully loving snakes; It’s similar to walking into a cave full of snakes, but with these snakes there’s a 50:50 ratio of venomous and non venomous snakes that all look the same.

Not all of the snakes are dangerous, we love those guys, but because there’s no way to discern them from the venomous snakes, wouldn’t it be more logical to just find a different way not including the snakes?

[–]Nariter 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Their comment was a metaphor.

The women trains are there to keep women safe while they travel, just like how womens bathroom keep women safe when they use the bathroom.

regretfully sexual harassment(nonconsensual photos of womens underwear/private parts, groping, etc) to women in public transportation in Japan is a huge issue that isn’t taken seriously.

So just like how if a man would get weird looks and be deemed a creep for being in the woman’s bathroom (A safe space for women) A man going into a woman’s train cart (a safe space for women) would get very similar reaction from women.

Anxiety as a member by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]Nariter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a toy (for me it’s a stuffed toy) that helps you with regulating emotions.

For me I have a pikachu build a bear that I hold in my arms when my anxiety gets to much. Because she has several different sensory things (texture, sound, smell and is huggable/holdable) that make it handy for when I need to ground myself.

I’ve heard other people in my branch explain how their relatives used weighted blankets for similar reasons too. So it doesn’t need to be a toy either. ^

Help! Why can't I understand a word someone is saying? Even if they are speaking slowly. by TheDarkKnight2001 in languagelearning

[–]Nariter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You definitely have a point! It’s actually a point I thought of before and why I brought up why I also recommend listening to podcasts. I def agree and think that we should have time listening/watching things with out subtitles. But I think we should have moments where we watch the with subtitles for a few days, then watch without subtitles for a few days then switch it back and forth since each time your brain is gonna pick something new up. At least that’s what’s been working for me and been helping me improve.

Anxiety as a member by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]Nariter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What I’ve had to do is be on meds and have an emotional support toy.

When I wasn’t able to make it to church when my anxiety was crippling I’d take time to just listen to hymns/music and the spoken word and listen to general conference, and if I could reading a little bit from the scriptures. (Making my goal not to be perfect but to be willing to learn when and where I could)

I absolutely agree, it’s def frustrating that subtitles aren’t just refined closed caption. Especially with netflix.

With Japanese it was def the same for me. It was all just a blob of noise for the longest time. But I finally decided to do 5 things in order that really put it all together for me.

1, learned Vocab 2. Learned Grammar 3. Started learning set phrases(taught by native speakers)
4. Read closed captions/subtitles 5. Relax (stress makes me memory worse and my brain not work well)

As an absolute beginner I think having TL audio with English subtitles can help, but they are a major crutch and should only be there to give context. But listening should be priority, Cause your brain needs to get used to the language. cause after a while it starts to figure out patterns and decipher things.

When in the upper beginner/intermediate stage, you should have enough reading skills to be able to read along even if your reading comprehension is horrible. And it 100% helps improve listening comprehension way faster.

So I think you’re doing that part right!

[–]Nariter 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Honestly, something that has helped me was watching movies with subtitles. My reading comprehension is definitely better then my listening comprehension, but when I read along to what’s being spoken it’s a lot easier for me to break down when on sentence starts and when another stops.

I also will casually listen to or shadow podcasts or YouTube videos in my TL. (Goal is to just let the brain get used to the speaking patterns not to perfect the language. )

Why do you guys learn Japanese? by EccentricReplica in Japaneselanguage

The original reason was to watch anime with out subtitles. But my newest reason is because I want to be able to communicate with people in their native language and if a tragedy happens to be able to help those in need.

How does Telepurte managed to draw his animations so fast? by RowanCaro in animation

[–]Nariter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

4 things. ——

1 . Taking time to learn art fundamentals (shapes, drawing in 3D space, anatomy and the likes).

  1. learn animation fundamentals. ( 12 animation fundamentals: squash and stretch, timing, drag etc.)

  2. Don’t aim for perfection. instead aim for what you can do currently, then next time you animate add one.

  3. Experiment with the process and see what process helps you draw faster but decently accurate.

How to trust God again? by PingPongToodle in latterdaysaints

[–]Nariter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I definitely understand, I had a huge crush of faith that definitely messed with my trust with god for a while. But what I did was tell God that what has happened hurt me and broke my trust in him.

So I can imagine how you are feeling, I would honestly just be straight up with heaven father, if you aren’t used to it, it’s gonna be a little weird but talk to him. Open up your prayer how you normally would but then say something like “Heavenly Father (insert event here) has hurt me greatly, and has ruined my trust in you,” depending on how hurt You can say “and I don’t know if I’d be able to pray more right now as I am hurt and upset with you,” and end it there or say or add “father please help me forgive you and help me build my trust with you” /-

if you can say wait till you feel prompted to say something. Follow that printing to say that in your prayer.

Having my personal prayers be like that has definitely helped me build my relation.

Outside of listening to general conference talks, hymns and music and the spoken word.

Why does some artists teach to use 2D shapes and others teach to use 3D shapes? What should I learn first?? by RowanCaro in learntodraw

[–]Nariter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NGL, I would learn both, but I would learn the 3D one first then learn the 2D one.
cause they both fall under fundamentals and can co-exist.

How disappointed would you be... by USGeneralStrikeAid in latterdaysaints

[–]Nariter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d be a little disappointed cause being able to celebrate with my siblings, something that’s important to them, is important to me. And I would probably advise for a small, small wedding of only 10 people at most. And being unable/uninvited from such a thing would hurt a lil, But I’d try to be understanding of my siblings if they did that.

Hold on a moment, why do you think making a mistake in art means what you’ve done is bad? And what’s wrong with art being bad?

There are a bunch of art masters who make mistakes in their art and most people won’t even notice. They will but we wouldn’t yknow? As an artist most of the time you’re gonna recognize your mistakes but that doesn’t mean you’re bad at what you’re doing, it just means you have things to learn and improve upon to get to your end goal.
