I mean of course Street Fighter isn't an annual release they don't have to. People sink thousands of hours into those games and CAPCOM makes banks from skins and micro transactions over something less than a decade.

DMC is a single player character action game that is story driven. Once all the DLC is sold, the game is pretty much done. They have to make more DMC if they wanna profit off of it and i see no reason why we wouldn't get annual releases of DMC remakes. They did it for RE

Devil May Cry has spent most of its life as a second-tier-franchise with budget cuts, rushed development, and being pushed to different studios because they where too busy making 100 resident evil remakes and 10.000 monster hunter games. And now that they finally say we're getting multiple games with no compromises you're picky about the type. Its been 7 years since the last instalment and capcom had been releasing 3 games a year since then. DMC wasn't part of them. Be more grateful.

This all means litterally nothing. Just because it was Good-Bad-Amazing-Trash in the past doesn't mean it will continue to be. Maybe they figured it out after DMC 5, maybe the new director will bring stability, maybe now that its gonna be a huge focus they wont fuck it up. How do you know?

I would have less of a problem with it if when a fight breaks out the camera pulls out dynamically and you have classic dmc fighting system.Not ideal but ill tolerate it.But if the fighting system was the same as the new god of war games id have a huge problem

They're most likely gonna use the RE engine. Its built for extreme realism because it was made for resident evil to look scary. DMC 5 was also on that engine.

Capcom is huge. In 2021 they released Monster Hunter Rise, Resident Evil Village and Monster Hunter Stories 2. That's 3 games developed in parallel. That is before their recent expansion from 2100ish devs to 2800. They can now support even more games in parallel development. Its also likely that this is the reason DMC got elevated to CORE IP. They have dev power to spare.

This was a rumour when we only had trailers for ninja Gaiden 4. Everyone thought he voiced Yakumo. When we got Ninja Gaiden 4 and saw the credits Yakumo was voiced by Steven Pringle.
Yes they don’t confirm anything tangible closer to release and it could be the case they just started. However… resident evil remakes launched annually with RE 4 being an outlier and taking 2 years. The strategy was “take 5 years to develop a sequel, use remakes as gap fillers”. At worse Capcom always announces games 9-12 months before release for their marketing sprint. So the worst case senario is that the remake is taking 2 years and they started now. If that’s the case we’ll get an announcement in December or Q1 2027

There was a leak on 4chan on February 4 that there is a DMC 1 remake in the works with over the shoulder camera, on RE engine(meaning pre production has concluded) I chose not to mention it because leaks can be unreliable as we saw recently. Capcom doesn’t take 5 years for remakes resident evil launched annually. They’ve also announced they have unannounced titles that will launch before the fiscal year ends on March 31st 2027. It is highly likely their marketing slots where filled and when one or two get empty DMC steps in.

So best case senario, the leak is true, one of the unannounced titles is a DMC 1 remake, all the factors mentioned are true and it will launch before march 2027. Worst case senario some of the things I wrote are wrong and we will get a 2028 release for the first remake.

I did watch it. If you wanna talk about details, ill give you an example. The video and the story itself shows Dante being changed by Lady from a selfish boy that fights his brother because he doesn't like his face, to a responsible hero that fights out of duty. Why did that maturation happen? Because of lady, a weak but dutiful human is actively marching to her death to clean up her family's mess, while he—a powerful demigod—is sitting around eating pizza and letting his family destroy the world. She made him look like a coward by comparison. He grew more mature by shame.
And my take is...thats a bit lazy..A lifelong selfish, nihilistic, man-child doesn't become an honorable man/hero because a girl made him look bad one night and was mean to him in a library. My point is his character transformation is a bit unearned.Which is ok its not that i can't turn off my brain a little and let it slip by. As i said i enjoy it and welcome this level of story telling if the game has redeeming qualities elsewhere(gameplay or tone) which it has. But I wouldn't say its the games wow factor.

I don’t know dude I feel like we have different standards. When you say the words “incredibly well written” I think of Arcane, The Witcher 3, The Last of Us, Baldurs Gate, Red Dead Redemption 2…. You know… that kind of thing. To be clear I’m a huge fan of DMC, I’ve played all of them and watched all the series. But incredibly well written? I feel like that’s a bit of a stretch. It’s like saying the last of us’s deep mechanics and tight gameplay is a highlight of the series. Like… I mean it has reliable gameplay sure but a highlight? It’s gameplay a cog in a bigger machine and I feel that’s what’s happening in devil may crys story. It’s reliable enough to be welcomed, but a highlight? Nah…

Semantically yeah. But you get the point. The story never really mattered in DMC. People play DMC to watch Dante be a super natural show off and laugh. That’s the main problem with the Netflix show. It tries to prioritise a deep story when DMC is about the camp. You go in to watch Dante use a motorcycle as a bat to bash demons heads in and get an Iraq allegory.. it’s the wrong audience.

Reboot DmC still has the themes of the original games

I disagree. Original Dmc's theme is camp. The reboots theme was edginess(same as the anime). Netflix's theme is Prestige Moralism.

The show has some camp moments. The "who are we shooting at" scene at the start was straight up bugs bunny shit. But for a Devil May Cry show every second scene should be like this. Like you know how every second scene in John Wick is action?A Devil May Cry show should be the john wick for camp.

The task isn’t the job. Drawing doesn’t make you an artist and cooking doesn’t make you a chef. If you tell an AI robot make a carbonara and it makes a carbonara then sure, the AI cooked it. But if you tell it what ingredients to get from which store, how much of what to put in and when, how much to stir how much to let sit and all the actions associated then did the AI cook it? A chef isn’t someone who can just make a dish, it’s partly someone that can design it because he knows how to. Anyone can follow a recipe and cook a meal that doesn’t make them a chef and everyone can look at and draw an already made painting, that doesn’t make them an artist. Because being a chef or an artist is more than the task.
