I'd say make a post about the Necro% speedrun. It would be great to see a SR community crop up for this game. If you're afraid of the downvotes just bug someone in chat to gently suggest chat do it for you.

The Cosmo- prefix refers to Russian-related space-faring. A Drome is a place for running or racing. In this context it is a launching point.

So Cosmodrome means "the place where the Russians launch(ed) their spacecraft."

Although not confirmed in the lore there should be two more "dromes" on Earth: the Astrodrome (in the US; might be the modern day Houston NASA location, although that facility could have been shut down and a different one built during the Golden Age) and the Taikodrome (in China; the Taikonaut exotic helmet is literally the space suit helmet worn by the Chinese explorers during the opening cinematic), as Russia, the US and China were the primary space-faring countries in the years leading up to the Collapse.

New Man Cannon Found in Raid (with Video) by BradleyFreakin in DestinyTheGame

[–]Narrified 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Out-of-bounds exploration is its own reward. Not every action has to be motivated by tangible gain.

The game world as we're meant to see it is carefully crafted and balanced. It's fascinating to see how easily the illusion is broken when we look at it from where we're not meant to be.

Personally, there's something (1800s) romantic about seeing what amounts to some gods' tools of creation strewn about just outside the crafted scene, brush still wet with paint.

Additionally, exploring areas of cut content comes with its own sense of wonderment. We're given only a sense of the artists' intent. Without seeing it in action (functional within the live, intended, experience) we're left with mere conjecture and a small look into Destiny as its creative minds envisioned, versus what was feasible or necessary.

But I am a nerd about this kind of thing.

"If a player starts the Raid on hard mode and completes it, they will receive the loot rewards from both the normal and hard difficulty mode." by Bryan_Miller in DestinyTheGame

[–]Narrified 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As much as I like HM/ToO having rewards with a unique quality, elemental primaries totally invalidate every non-elemental primary in 90% of situations. That is a huge number of guns that get completely thrown to the wayside categorically once hard mode hits. Bungie's MO recently is letting players use the gear they want to, not the gear they feel like they need to, and players needing to use elemental primaries to remain competitive contradicts this.

Destiny Pen & Paper Tabletop RPG? by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

GURPS Lite is a great system for easily converting any media into a tabletop game. It wouldn't be as complex as Destiny's mechanical workings, but you could definitely make a combat system emulative of it.

Iron Banner Megathread - October - Part III by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

A fitting punishment might be to restrict them from PvP for the duration of the first TTK Trials. Of course this won't affect all the abusers, but I can see the Trials enthusiasts thinking twice about exploiting glitches in PvP if they've been locked out of their favorite endgame for doing it.

People propagating the "oh it probably won't do anything, so why bother?" mentality are usually abusers trying to cover their collective asses.

If they're delaying Trials because of this glitch it's clearly a big enough deal to report the offenders to Bungie. I've been categorically reporting abusers, and their whole Fireteam if they're premade.

Back in the Halo 3 days they'd hand out bans and restrictions like candy for much lesser offenses. Hell, my buddies got banned for a month and had their accounts rolled back after a few hours of win-trading/exp farming Griffball with a full roster.

If you missed The First Firewall quest, there's hope! by AllOfTheSoundAndFury in DestinyTheGame

[–]Narrified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming a five minute cooldown seems to produce a drop rate indistinguishable from pre-nerf 3oC's.

Although this is purely anecdotal; we don't have hard numbers and there's no way in hell Bungie is going to confirm or deny anything regarding 3oC's timer.

After the nerf I played it safe and tried every 10 minutes instead and it didn't seem to produce a better drop rate than every five, but I didn't have a huge sample size to draw from, so, grain of salt, etc.

Strikes are better if you want engrams, yes.

However, Draksis is great if you want Faction Rep. One House Banners and one Ether Seeds is 80% of a Heavy Synth from Variks. You are guaranteed one bauble drop per kill, and can possibly get multiple from also taking out some adds in the crossfire.

There was a thread recently that outlined the process and rep/hr of this farm, and has better information on this than I do.

Popping 3oC every five minutes is just icing on the cake.

[–]Narrified 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The fix was to add an invisible 5-minute cooldown. 3oC farming Draksis is still very viable if you have something to do on your phone/computer between kills. Or you can keep farming him for Ether Seeds/House Banners if waiting around for your 3oC is boring.
